Scenario - Cortez, Treasures and Pirates

Well, I had that idea for a small scenario centered around the West Indies around 1520.

It would not be historically accurate.
Most of the maps would be "barbarian land", nearly no settlers, a capture the princess victory rules and a limited time would be the most typical features.

If people are interested in bringing ideas, playtesting and criticizing, doing some art work, please join in.

Units, maps and other stuff are from other people. I mod for the others and there is no benefit from me but if some of you creators want to keep your creations out of this scenario, just let me know.

Map : El Mencey Central America with some changes (jungles, ressources, and especially a small Spanish land in the North-East to represent Spain (includes Cadix, horse, salpeter and iron). Ocean would require 2 or 3 Mov Points to slow the crossing.

The CIVs
Spain
Capital Cadix
UU Conquistadors
Land : Cuba (La Havana 1515, Trinidad 1514, Santiago 1514), Haiti (La Isabella 1494, Sto Dominguo 1496) and Santa Maria (1510 between Panama and Colombia).
Units: one or two priests (settlers), a small army with Cortez in Havana, few troops in Santa Maria to explore, the bulk being in Cadix (need for transport).
Galleon has 0 attack / 0 defense
Need to capture as many treasures as possible and bring them back to Cadix (from Aztecs and Mayas if discovered or from the Pirates)

Aztecs
Standard, with a few new units (eagle warrior,...)
Need to stay alive and keep their treasures

Maya (historically, they had already but recently disappeared)
In the Yucatan peninsula with some new units (Maya plumed archer)
Need to stay alive and keep their treasures

French and English pirates (they came later but...)
in Jamaica, Bahamas,...
UU Privateer
Need to capture the treasures or avoid the Spanish-conquered ones to reach Seville. Lack of land-units mobility means higher chances of success would be to attack on the coasts and destroy Cadix-bound galleons.

Others should be just VERY tough barbarians with accurate tribe locations (as possible).

Except for the Spanish priests, no settlers.
Princess should be a treasure unit.

The Spanish princess is quite unreachable in Cadix.

If I succeed in finding a treasure unit soon, will upload the basic scenario soon. Hopefully it can be played on MP as well.

Great idea! I'm surprised something like this hasn't been at least attempted before. Now we'll have a use for the Privateer.

I hope someone makes a King unit for Henry Morgan, the greatest privateer that ever lived. He had the spaniards pulling their hair out.
 
great idea, i would like to be play tester if you want.

btw its called Cadiz in english not Cadix.

Thanks but actually it is supposed to be a "capture the treasure-princess" scenario not a king-killing. That would be better for the real time of piracy where Spain (mostly) tried to get rid of the Pirate leaders.

The same about privateers. The civs are French and English pirates so they do not care about declaring war. Sorry for that. It can be for a later-time scenario.

Or maybe i will change that if most prefer it that way.

Yoda : offer accepted. I will contact you when I get my treasure-unit.

I will keep Cadix if you do not mind. If possible I try to keep national city names.
 
if you dont get the treasure soon you can always send me a version using the princess as treasure, i dont think it is important how the units look in test versions.

I should have the treasure unit done within two days. It will have default, fidget, run, and surrender animations. Hopefully, it won't have any of my usual problems. ;) The sounds will probably come from the wooden ships--cracking sounds and what not.

But I have two pbs.

One should be easy but how do you define the path the Edit file should search into to fine Text and Art.
Just the name of the folder ?

Second is a bit more complicated.
About knowledge, I would like Amerindian civs to bypass the wheel but still know Astronomy. Of course I made it not necessary for era change but there are other issues linked to that and since I don't want to mess too much with the science screens for this scenario, well, takes a bit of time.

Hmm . . . why don't you want the "Amerindian" civilizations to have the wheel? I'm guessing so that they don't get horses? If that's the reason--I'm not sure if it is or not--then you could just make all mounted units not producible by these civilizations: horseman, knight, cavalry, etc. Or you could edit your map and only place one horse resource within each European civilization's territory. With only one supply of horses, I don't think the AI would trade them away. Then, the "Amerindian" civilizations would not have horses and could not trade for them.

Maybe, this is helpful, maybe not. I tried.

Badly !

First I have been real sick and could not do much except check my mail and write a few messages on the forums for more than a week. Did not even work on the Egyptian spearman...

Second, there is that big bug when I load the scenario. Weid sentences appear where they should not be (start-up screen and in-game) and it crashes. Happened right after I started playing Plexus Japanese scenario. Might be something I did but I don't know what though I have tried a few things.
So I might have to start from scratch again.

I can send it to you Yoda if you want but I guess you will have the same problem as me.

So at the moment it is wait and ... see (hopefully).
