ok this is gonna sound painfully stupid but how do u create scenarios in civ 3 when their is no cheat editor.
i remember in civ 2 i could change the parameters of the scenarios and the main game via the cheat editor but civ 3 doesn't have one - what am i missing?

For modding Civ 3 we use editors. You find the editor and an explanation of the functions of that editor here in the Conquests expansion of Civ 3 Complete:

To control the settings you have done in the editor, the editor has an own special mode, the Debug Mode (that cannot be used for cheating).

unbelievable, i've had this game for about 15 years and never knew, ur screenshot looks very similar to the cheat editor in civ 2.
i think i may propose lol
you stay safe and much thanks.

You are very welcome. :)

For more questions about modding Civ3, may be it is a good idea to post them at the CFC modding forum, that can be found here:

Btw.: As you posted you have some experience with modding Civ 2, may be the Civ 2 TOTPP project with tons of patches for Civ 2 ToT and lua programming for it, could be interesting for you, too:

i only play civ 3 and i only play the scenarios, just had a quick look and the editor looks pretty much like the cheat editor in civ 2. i used that editor a lot and created, for me at least, more interesting gameplay. i just quickly modified the rise of rome scenario and managed to access it on the game via civ-content and it works just like a cheat editor.
now from memory (cause the last time i modified a game was almost 20 years ago) i remember that you have to be careful when changing parameters, that some parameters need to be changed in more than one location.
i really can't thank u enuff - impassable mountains again at last.
if i can create something funky are folks still posting new scenarios?
if they are i will ask in the future how i actually post them.
now its play time and again thanx and u stay safe from the zombie apocalypse.
btw is the editor available in all civs? the last civ i bought was civ4 - i cant remember if there were any scenarios but u cud change the actual game (i never rally enjoyed the fantasy element of the later units, i prefer stuff from the greeks to the Naopleonic era.
btw i did what you said bout where to put new scenarios but the 3 ive downloaded, although they appear once the game is loaded when i try to play them i get error messages, but thanx for trying to help.

:yup: Yes, there will still be new scenarios for C3C. Tonight I just have finished the version 1.7 of the epic mod RARR (including an extended version of the biq and a 180x180 worldmap) and my next project is an update of the scenario WW2 Global Gold.

As far as I know, Civ 3 is the last version of the civ series with an editor, but there are other methods for modding those versions. I personally have no fun with Civ 4-6 cause of the ugly graphics and the bad 'table top presentation' making the world looking like a toilet brush (of course this is only my personal opinion about Civ 4-6). That´s why I stay with modding Civ 2 and Civ 3 with graphics, that in my eyes are much better suited for a strategy game like civilization. For modding Civ 4-6 you should ask civers in the modding forums of CFC for those versions of the civ series.
