Scenario Troubles

Hello.

I just replaced my copy of Civilization III (lost my old one a year ago) and have downloaded a few of the scenarios I used to have...but for some reason while the scenario loads it destroys civilizations. I'll get messages saying "The Chinese have been destroyed." Is there any way to fix this?
