I can't seem to get plain scenarios to load up, just the mods. Do they definately go in the second beyond the sword folder/mods? it seems they load but dont run

Not totally sure I follow what you are trying to do but will surmise.

I assume you are referring to the delivered BTS Scenarios. It’s been a loooong time since I played one. those scenarios are basically mods, so when you run one it will load the mod. I thought the game went straight into a game at that point but may misremember. Still, you should be able to play the scenario once the mod is loaded.

Mention of the second BTS folder means that I can assume you use the Steam version. That is a special folder structure unique to Steam, and yes the second BTS folder IS the BTS folder.

You may have better results using the BETA version in Steam.

When the worldbuilder file is seperate its a scenario? In its own folder is where i put it. When it has a publicmaps and assets folder PLUS the worldbuilder it's a mod than? I can only get the mods to run. Yes im using the steam version

Wondering if they should go in the publicmaps folder right outside the mods folder in the main beyond the sword/beyond the sword folder?

You should not move anything, or have moved anything previously. Don't jack with files unless you know what you are doing.

The WB file is the scenario, but the delivered ones have mods behind them that need to be loaded when running scenario. You should not move any files that are delivered at install.

Don't run from the wb save.

They way I played the delivered content is run BTS and choose Single Player>Beyond The Sword Content" > then choose the content you want to play. If you do it that way the mod should load and the scenario is run automatically.

Note: Any folder you see in BTS/BTS/MODs folder is a mod; either delivered one or maybe something you installed yourself.

The BTS "Content" is just special stuff they delivered at release to provide some fun stuff for folks to play. But they are essentially mod primers as well, and some of them were part or became part of much larger expanded mods developed by the community - like RFC, FFH, and some of the War ones..can't remember. RFC and FFE were and are huge and popular IV mods.

Should the world builders get their own folder or just put directly in the mods folder?

Well I put two scenarios in a PublicMaps folder inside the main scenario folder. I"ll see if that works

I think maybe we are disconnecting here. Are you making your own mods? I've been discussing the BTS Content Scenarios but you've not addressed whether I'm off-base with that discussion.

If you are just trying to play a WBsave itself then put it in My Games/BTS/Saves/Worldbuilder folder. Once your WB save is in that folder, you can play it as a scenario.

Anyway, if that is not what you are referring to, then I'd ask you to be more specific on what you are trying to do here. You mention putting X here or Y over there, but I'm not really sure what you are really trying to achieve. What mod? Your mod? A delivered mod? Someone else's mod?

It works fine now. I just put scenarios? mods? that are just the world builder into its own PublicMaps folder within the main folder of the mod. Im sorry for confusing you but i got it to work. SPecific mods were the seven years war mod and the 1000AD (really big earth) mod. Not mine, i can't mod, don't know how to. But i got them to play so all is well that ends well lol

that are just the world builder into its own PublicMaps folder within the main folder of the mod.l
Yep, that's whatya do for mod scenarios. I just thought you were talkin' bout something different. Glad you got it to work.

Some scenarios (i take it mods are the ones with a world builder file + files in the assets and public maps folders) but again some scenarios only come with the world builder in the zip file you download. You have to create a scenario folder, than INSIDE the scenario folder goes a folder that's called PublicMaps and INSIDE that folder goes the world builder file. I'm not sure if this requirement is a steam thing but i don't remember having to do that ages ago with the CD version of Civ IV + expansions
