Schedule of upcoming games

I was just wondering if there is or will be a list of the upcoming games in terms of Civs to be played.

Last year there was a schedule showing the civs from March until December. It was nice because I could fire up a quick game using next months civ and practice.

The pregame thread is nice but I usually spend the entire week planning initial moves.

I second the motion.

Due to time constraints, I'll be limiting my self to a single game each month and knowing the level and which civ we're playing would make that decision easier.

BTW: Welcome back CF

For those players new in the last year, CF is the father of the SGOTM, having led three games during the prior administration.

Thanks denyd, its good to be back and see a lot of familiar names.

You give me too much credit in SGOTM. I just had the idea, but players like you and AlanH really got it up and running.

When I get more time to play ( ) I'll have to join one of those.

Back on thread: I didn't mention the level but that would also be nice to know. While we're at it, how about all the world and barb settings too.:D

Errrm, I don't think we have games planned out that far in advance anymore that we would know these things.

I feel like I just gave away a state secret. :D

AlanH? Any comments?

I had surmised that might be the case with mostly standard games being generated. I'm not necessarily looking for the entire year, just one month ahead really. I figure with your play testing you might know what you're planning for GOTM39 right now. That would satisfy my needs. :mischief:

I think knowing the level is nice, but I like the effect of surprise with civ tribe.
On another hand we know the pattern, so that the next GOTM probably will be on Monarch and the next COTM on Emperior.

May I second or third the welcome back to ControlFreak?

Please note that mad-bax should get the credit for following up on the SGOTM idea, pioneered by CF all that time ago.

OK, I'll rise to the bait. The only one I know about for sure is GOTM 39, for which we'll start the Pregame discussion in a couple of days. We will be Germany, playing at Monarch level. Now let's see how long it is before we get complaints about drip-feeding of information

In case anyone is unaware, our Great Leader will be out of town for a week or three this month for a well-earned vacation, and has delegated responsibility for the design of COTM 9 to Renata. Ainwood hopes to be unspoilered for it so that he can maybe play it, so Renata is playing her cards very close, and I have no idea what she's planning ... yet.

That would be because Renata has no idea what she's planning. ;)

How about a builder game for a change?

Maybe no opponents with conquest & domination victories turned off :D

I wouldn't mind seeing a highly customized map rather than one randomly generated. It makes exploring much more fun when you have no idea what lies beyond the horizon. Of course, customizing a map is also very time consuming, so I will not be expecting it!

Pah, drip feeding

(1 hour 24 minutes).

Hi AlanH!

Now that I've got your attention, what I was really thinking of was an addition to the GOTM Website. On the Left Navigation Bar, below the current game box, and above the Previous Games Drop Down you could add a box with "Coming Next Month:Civ,Difficulty,Any World or other descriptions".

Would it be possible to add something like that to avoid the drip feeding? ;)

Just to show my appreciation for your efforts here, SGOTM, QSC, CFC ...
:goodjob: :thanx: :worship: :band:
(enough sucking up?)

(Of course Renatta better get on the stick to be able to post COTM data. :p )

Damn! You guys are slow. I had a private bet with myself on less than an hour.

@CF:

That's possible, only I'm congenitally lazy and very bad at HTML, so I have no intention of manually editing the menu twice a month, and I'd want to set it up to be fed from the games database. That means ainwood would have to be persuaded to set the database info ahead of release. So it's out of my hands :mischief:

Or... :mischief: ... a single tile island (not necessarily a single tile, could be mountains in addition to a single settable tile) separated by huge oceans.
This would encourage OCC towards 20K or diplomatic victories.
Advantages:
1. Easy to defend for a while if no Vikings around.
2. Those who normally cannot finish GOTM in a month will submit.
3. It will be so easy to write a QSC log.

As a conquest gift I suggest a couple of settlers and an expansionist trait removed for predators. And sure, it must be expansionist and militaristic civ, so it will be either Zulu or Mongols. If it is Mongols, than this single island could have even horses, it is nice to have a stack of keshiks in a capital (or riding on those mountains in hope to triger GA by hitting a rock), isn’t it?
I think that the level could be SID and whoever gets a green ambulance will also get a gold medal :D

How is that for a change?

And if such game will be played, I will give a try for a cow award :mischief: .

Nah. It'll be Sid, 80% water Pangaea, as England, with Germany, Zulus, China, Rome, Vikings, Mongols, Aztecs as opponents. A far more interesting race for the red ambulance!

Neil.

Well, I can certanly play this game on my free time. I have been considering returning and actualy submiting a game to the GOTM since I have been waiting for a Monarch or lower difficulty level.

I hope I dont have to download anyting for the next GOTM game.

@CivGeneral: If you play the Classic games like GOTM 39 in PtW, or the C3C games, you normally won't need any downloads. Just play.

Since Ainwood was away when this thread started, I thought I'd :bump: it. Also I've finished GOTM39 and am trying to figure out what to practice. :smug:
