At present, we are at a Sci/Lux rate of 8.1.1. Increasing the Science rate beyond 10% will not improve the speed in which we develop the next technology (39 turns). We can increase the Lux rate to 20% without effecting our income or Science rate, but I don't see a reason for this. We may need some increased Lux's soon, though. Basically, our cities are too small to have the sliding Sci/Lux scale affect a change. Any input, comments, complaints?

Not at this time SAaM. There would be no reason to.

I suggest that we plan to raise the luxury rate to 20%. Once Morgana is built it would be best if it could use the game tile currently worked by Bavaria. Bavaria could switch to a regular forest. Bavaria could also switch from the lake to another regular forest to boost shield production to 7 s/t. this would stall growth until the grasslands are improved. In order to work two forests we need a lux rate of 20% to keep Bavarians quiet. We need a second worker ASAP - Valhalla should switch from granary to worker now and should be working the cow tile.

If we put our new build strike force members on temporary garrison duty they will have a MP effect until they rush off to war. They can then quickly be replaced by warriors produced for the sword rush.

It's financially devestating to have the science rate on at all at Emperor level. It is FAR easier and cheaper to buy or take technologies from the civs that are paying money to research them. The best method of science research is to create a single scientist in the off chance you will be able to research a tech in 40 turns.

That's why some don't research science at all. That's the strategy of some gamers, to keep science at 0%, and buy/trade for science. Use the money for military.

We are now technologically advanced at this point and we have spent very little on Science. But I think the honeymoon is over. We need to monitor the Sci/Lux rate pretty much every turn and check our standing in the world community for Science regularly. I like to be in 1st or second place as much as possible, but not at the cost of other priorities.

Yup. Same strategy I use. Unlike many of the tips you see around the forum, this one actually increases in effectiveness the higher the difficulty level is.

I generally use pretty much the same strategy, although I tend to leave sci at 10% until I've got the tech with which to build a good ancient era military.
