Just received like 10 advances in one turn!

Diety just got REALLY easy! Playing Greece, I had just wiped out Russia at year 190 BC (fortunately both Rome and Egypt were ganging up on her and I managed to get the last kill in EVERY one of her cities - wheee). On the same exact turn I discovered Monarchy which then asked if I wanted to decend into Anarchy, I said yes (had not yet become a Republic because the war was too hot). Then of course I advanced to the next age which of course gave me my free Nationalism. Well it didn't stop there. I suddenly received EVERY advange that all of the other Civs had. We're all even! I guess I've never made it to the second age in Deity before...

Is this supposed to happen?

(not complainin' :))

did you make contact to new civs?

Like you had the GL, but only contact to one civ. So when you make new contact it will come into effect....

guys while the GL was a decent idea all i can say is WRONG. BY the time you hit nationalism GL is long dead......so sounds like somethings wrong here. after monarchy ... to nationalism????? arent we missing a whole age (middle) here??? sounds like either a severe oops in the program or the story is being told erronegously. (sp?)

I guess he just mixed it up and meant he got mon, but maybe he got all the other techs first and then got Nat for reching the next age.

Maybe you should make your game avalaible for upload (if you don't have any saves, see in the autosaves).

It was the Great Library. I had forgotten all about it. The city I captured to eliminate Russia had the GL so when I captured it I got 10+ advances. From Monarchy to Democracy in one turn. Caught me up with all other civs.

You are right though that the GL should have been obsolete by then.

They have probably programmed/changed? it so that the deactivation of the GL from getting Education does not occur till the end of the turn. Otherwise you can get screwed if education proceeds some other techs in a bundle that you get from the GL. Of course, there is always the possibility of this extreme, but I think it outways the feeling of being "cheated" that would occur the other way around.

Yeah, as long as you get all the other techs after Education in the same turn you get Education from the GL, you'll be able to get them through the GL.

Actually, it works as long as it is the same turn. I got the entire middle ages + a few industrial age techs when I finally made contact with the other civs in a OCC game. Still lost though.
