What is the quorum anyway?

I forgot what it is even through I've posted thousands of polls.

I think the quorum is 21 votes. Luckily the poll has closed before it reached this level! :)

It could always be reopened. :) So, what don't you like about this poll? We could always have a poll on every possible outcome. ;)

Well, for one thing, we're already 22 turns into iron working and the leader in this poll has ceremonial burial before iron working. If this poll had been binding we would have had to switch to ceremonial burial which would take 40 turns then after that we could start iron working from scratch again. Not very efficient.

Especially since we can buy ceremonial burial from either the Japanese or Aztecs for less than 80 gold...

I think the science dept. should do an informational poll that is multi-choice. one that lists all the techs and we could pick the top 5 in the poll. Almost like the old FA polls that determined most favored nation status. the FNSD could use the results of that poll to construct a short science queue and to define some long term goals.

The leading vote is Strider's queue, which has Iron before Cerimonial Burial.

So it does. My mistake. Another reason for voting on shorter queues: not everyone reads long posts! I also do not like the practice of naming proposed queues after whoever proposed them. I think in this poll people looked at the beginning of the first queue, saw cermonial burial then iron working and voted against that queue. Others simply voted for the queue based on the name attached, i.e., they voted for either SAaM or Strider rather than the queues themselves.

So, what about my proposed multi-vote poll as a means of constructing short and long term science goals? Anyone think it's a good idea?

Your making an assumption on that one. I wholehartedly beleive that people read the posts from top to bottom. And i highly doubt the citizens voted on queue just bacause it was striders or stucks. your not giving much credit to the citizens of fanatika

Hehe. From my experience with the last demogame, I am almost sure that people oftentimes do not read entire posts. Whether or not this results in them making a decision based on who posted it, I do not know. However, it is possible.

Well, I prefaced my remarks with I think. It's a hypothesis not a proven theorum. :grad:

As for your wholehearted belief, I can assure you that I do not read all posts nor do I read entire posts if they do not hold my interest.

No matter what this poll is being followed.... We need a queue voted on the populace.... The turnchat is tonight.... We don't have enough time for another one. Put me up for a PI or whatever you want, but I'm doing my job ;)

Also as I've explained earlier the science queue will be put up everyonce and awhile for a continuence poll. Saying if the citizens want to continue to follow that queue.

Stuck: I noted the first time you said that it was neutrals queue.... Sense I had already posted it in the poll and you said it already in this thread I figured that anyone who cares enough to keep up with the votes would have read the entire thread.

Also I believe that most people atleast read the 1st post before voting on a poll.

Just to lay things out for everyone:

Queue's are proposed in the Science Queue discussion thread. When their is more than one queue they are voted for in a poll. Whichever queue wins will be the offcial queue to be used. Every 2 T/C's (If I remember) the current queue will be put in an acceptance poll. If the queue flunks the acceptance poll we go back to the drawing board's. If it wins then we continue using the same queue.

Strider, we are 18 turns away from learning iron working. Turn chats have been limited to ten turns. There is no pressing need to gat an official queue of this length approved.

No one has said you are not doing your job or doing anything improper. We are merely trying to point out the dangers inherent in voting on long queues and are trying to suggest better ways for you to be able to do you job. :)

Now that this poll is done would you please consider posting a multi-vote poll that can be used to ranks citizen's tech preferences?

I already know of the dangers of a long science queue... and repeatadly you've reminded me of them and I've told you my reason of using them AND my way of preventing those things to happen.

I was also merely stating that we HAVE to follow this poll as their is no other queue/techs to be used and the T/C is today.

Also I plan on creating a emergency queue that can be used if something happens.

Your reason for the long queue was that in the last game we had a turn chat where we got several techs and the science queue ran out. That's not going to happen now. We're doing ten turns per chat, doing research at the rate of 40 turns per tech and stopping if we make coontact with new civs. There's no way a five tech science queue would run out now. As the game progresses we will need longer and longer queues but not right now. yes, I've repeatedly remined you of this becasue you repeatedly ignore it.

We would not have had to use this poll under any circumstances. It did not reach quorum and therefore is not binding.

So how about the poll I suggested?

Could you define "coontact"? :D

We already got cerimonial burial through a trade.

Sure, that's when one racoon tells another racoon he's a blooming idiot but does it with style and a certain, how do you say it?, .... tact. :D
