I must be playing the Scions wrong. I'm stuck at size 1 forever, and have even built all the buildings which supposedly help make Awakeneds.

Sounds like a bug, since you occasionally get an awakened every couple of turns; try re-starting the game ... Not harder than that

It is strange. I was playing a Scions game before I started getting CTDs and I was getting the Awakeneds necessary to grow. I got 4-5 in the beginning of the game, then didn't get any for about 200 turns, but then they started coming again. You can always 'build' one in your capital, but often it takes a long time when you want to be building other things.

If they're supposed to be showing up like jotnar civvies automatically in my cities, they don't and aren't. Tried restarting, new game, etc. Nada. I'll try reinstalling.

I also noticed that I can't cast maelstrom (the Air 2 lightning spell) anymore, also.

Thanks Valkrionn. I did install the new version and will start a new game and let you know.

Also, got some xml errors when I started 1.12. Something about dteshi commander.

Looks like the scions still aren't working. If what you're saying is correct, maybe your install should *delete* the old FF and/or FF+ folders before installing over top. I guess I'll try that now, reinstalling yet again?

Okay that fixed the Dteshi bug (good fix) but I still don't see anything for Scions on the city screen next to the mana display.... ?

Was confused when I saw the screenshot there... Makes sense with the second post.

You misunderstood me. By mana bar, I meant on the main screen. Top left corner, under your gold display? Next to that.

Awakened only spawn in the capital... Wouldn't make sense to put the display in the city, as if you did all the other cities would say 0. ;)

And actually, the installer does NOT install on top of the old folders. What it does is clone the existing folder to a new one, and installs on THAT. Afterwards, there's no interaction between the folders at all; You can keep them or delete them as you wish. ;)

Gotcha... I'll load up the game and check.

Isn't that the same difference in regard to any corrupted files or the D'teshi commander thing?

To wit: wouldn't it be better *NOT* to clone the existing folder?

Ah... That's what you meant. Well, there generally shouldn't be any corrupted files... And I'm not sure how to get the installer to delete files that may or may not exist in your install, so that's not something I can fix.

Really, it WOULD be better if each install was a fresh install. The issue is the main download is 530 mb, and takes several HOURS for me to upload. Patches allow us to keep the size small... And 1.12, even if it created a new folder, was just a patch. The issue would have occurred even if it had just installed on top of the old folder. ;)

Yeah, obviously you should only do the "don't copy" on each major version release, not patches.

Anyway I loaded my scions game and yes now I see it. It's hovering between 2-5%. I have yet to get any Awakeneds though I did get an event that got me a new Settler. Turns out it's MUCH better to get new cities by conquering them. That seems bass-ackwards to me (especially since you get those cities at full population).

So now, I have three size 1 cities (my capitol, the one from the new settler, and one I got from barbs) plus a size 9 city I took when I conquered Hephaestus. I'm getting ready to go fight Archos to get another nice city.

How did you get a size 9 city by conquering? Whenever i conquer a city with the Scions it shrinks to about a third or fourth of its original size.

Can't say I have a lot of experience with Scions yet but the only thing I did that might have an impact was to attack with HA spiders first (which was not as easy as it might sound, since about half the defenders were trolls). Once the city was empty, I DOWed and walked in.

Anyway even if it shrank to size 4-5, it still would be vastly beneficial and without a doubt the best way to increase Scion empire size. I'm not sure that's good design, not just from a gameplay perspective, but from a storyline perspective. Why do all these living citizens suddenly become undead Scions? (Although, the same story problem exists when anybody conquers anybody... such as elves on dwarves... it's just even odder in the case of the Scions.) Anyway as I said I can't claim to know what's best here as I don't have a lot of data points so I'm just offering my observations for Valk or somebody to mull over.

It's awesome to be able to do that in the first place, by the way. This mod is without a doubt one of if not the best one out there, adding so much cool content, and being actively supported and improved constantly, with user suggestions not only taken but actively solicited.

I'd say it's far less odd with the Scions. The Risen Emperor is perfectly capable of spreading the gift, after all. Elves and dwarves not so much.

Isn't this one of the effects of the conquest civic, which is usually a good choice with the scions?!

I rarley use conquest with Scions, because i can't use :food: for production and don't want to lose even more population. Anyway, cities shrink even without conquest, the only thing limiting it seems to be god king. And even then I lose more than half of the population.
