Hi

I just installed windows 7 from XP and found that my BTS CD Key was scratched. Does anyone know a way that I can download something like a version of the CD and can then just put in my key code for it?

If this is confusing or doesn't quite make sense, I'm kinda hoping for something along the lines of Blizzard's battle.net internet service (http://us.battle.net/) where you just type in your cd key in your account, blizzard finds which game it is and you can just download the client off of blizzard's website.

Thanks for any help!

The CD version of the game does not have a CD key that unlocks it, but relies on the copy protection of having the CD in the drive. If your disc is scratched so that you can not install the game you will need to get a replacement copy. As there is no CD key there is no way to just download another copy of the game without re-buying it. Some people have managed to get replacement discs from 2k, however there is a charge for this and with Civ 4 Complete available from Direct2Drive at $10 at the moment it is likely to be cheaper just to re-buy it.

A few people with damaged discs find that copying the contents of the disc to the hard drive and installing from there can help.

Well I tried copying the CD and it didn't work :( I guess I'll just buy it again. On the bright side I never got warlords or colonization so I guess it all works out.

Thanks for the advice.

The latest patch removes the CD-in-the-drive requirement. If you don't need the CD to reinstall then you shouldn't need it to play the game.
