Part 2
In around 1750, I finished the UN and went into my Golden Age. The question was, could I come from behind?
I did.
At this stage I decided that war was the only option. I upgraded all my defensive units to MI and started tank production. I bee-lined my science towards synthetic fibre for latter MA upgrades. I was turning out tanks 1 a turn in most of my cities and Artillery in the rest. When I reached 50 tanks and MA, I upgraded them all to MA. I had around 30 artillery at this stage.
My military in 1754AD.
There were two big AI players controlling most of out continent and one weak one.
The AI's had MPP all around and no way could I instigate a war.. First I considered a ROP betrayal hitting their capitals, but that might have been the end of the game, so I did the following.
I got MPP's with all the Civ's.
Then I planted a spy with the biggest one. Successfully. As I imagined, he had 4 parts in progress. I then planted a spy with the second biggest Civ. Four parts completed and three in progress! Also had 5 nukes. My military was weak comparing to them!
To complicate the issue, the biggest Civ also controlled the only available oil, but he was willing to trade it.
Then I waited and sneak attacked the largest CIV, walking workers over my terrain. Though I had a MPP with him, I had no ROP.
He didn't like it and attacked! Suddenly the whole world turned against him! No one expected a war and the AI switched to wartime production! This solved the spaceship problem for a while; cause spaceship isn't seen as a military improvement!
I quickly attacked all his cities surrounding my territory and then started bombarding his cities from fortified positions. I was forced to switch to artillery and infantry upon losing my Oil and steadily build my artillery stack. The AI numerously tried to attack my stack, using mostly MI and later some tanks. Fortunately he didn't have MA.
