This Is the Spoiler Thread For The Monarch Game in the

DONT READ UNTIL YOU ARE QUITE FAR INTO YOUR GAME FOR FAIRNESS (

Post your details if you want, if not just send the game through

Best of Luck

Before I post my spoiler, I've got a question. Has this game been tweeked? My capital never grew past size 22?

Delpi

Very interesting! I also notice the corruption within your capital. Since you are in Democracy, you should have zero corruption within your capital! This is weird! I will take a look at my game tonight. I'm building my capital right at the starting point too. However, I have all of my cities cap at size 12 to avoid pollution.

I will most likely allow all SDC games into the HOF as they meet the requirements set out in the HOF page.

This will be relevant as I move to expanding the HOF page, into different map sizes.

Cheers

JFL_Dragon: Have any idea why there are corruption within the capital as well as the limitation of size 22 in the thefrenchzulu 's game? Has this game been tweeked?

Just a note, my other cities grew without problem. I might have had too many things in my capital.

The corruption might have something to do with the hundreds of other cities. OK maybe not hundreds.:)

thefrenchzulu: Are you milking this game?

LOL no!

I decided not to go for any score and just to enjoy the game. I decided to go for one city culture victory. I'm quite close. Then first the Persian, then the French, then the Babs and then the Zulu went for spaceships. I had to kill them all!

I should win in 1944. I played the game non aggresively, but had to change not to lose against a spaceshio victory. I will still post the details, cause I had to change from non aggresive to total military!g

A snapshot of my little empire in 1555 AD. So far, I'm keeping all my cities at size 12 or below; I enjoy the game better when there is no pollution. I'm shooting for the Conquest Victory (may be Culture too).

OK:) My size 21 capital must have been a glitch.

Part 1

In this Super Deity Challenge, I was faced with quite an interesting challenge. I started the game with a fixed winning strategy, a one-city culture victory. The winning methods being set to conquest or culture.

I started the game non-aggressive and only built about 3 cities early and later added 3 more. I had some early wonders and all the science wonders. Estimated Apollo culture victory around 1960.

The problem is that in 1680, we reached the modern age and the AI was sure to start their spaceships. I could easily out build them, but I couldn't afford to win a space race victory. At that stage no major wars have been fought and I had all the AI players were gracious toward me.

I was military wise weak with mostly defensive units in 1680AD.

My capital at this stage large, was looking good and the culture win a question of time!

The AIs were too strong in my early years. France & Persia destroyed Rusian, Persia destroyed British, Zulus destroyed Babylon. Basically, they did a very good job on killing off each others for me.:)

Part 2

In around 1750, I finished the UN and went into my Golden Age. The question was, could I come from behind?

I did.

At this stage I decided that war was the only option. I upgraded all my defensive units to MI and started tank production. I bee-lined my science towards synthetic fibre for latter MA upgrades. I was turning out tanks 1 a turn in most of my cities and Artillery in the rest. When I reached 50 tanks and MA, I upgraded them all to MA. I had around 30 artillery at this stage.

My military in 1754AD.

There were two big AI players controlling most of out continent and one weak one.

The AI's had MPP all around and no way could I instigate a war.. First I considered a ROP betrayal hitting their capitals, but that might have been the end of the game, so I did the following.

I got MPP's with all the Civ's.
sdc2pic5.jpg

Then I planted a spy with the biggest one. Successfully. As I imagined, he had 4 parts in progress. I then planted a spy with the second biggest Civ. Four parts completed and three in progress! Also had 5 nukes. My military was weak comparing to them!

To complicate the issue, the biggest Civ also controlled the only available oil, but he was willing to trade it.

Then I waited and sneak attacked the largest CIV, walking workers over my terrain. Though I had a MPP with him, I had no ROP.

He didn't like it and attacked! Suddenly the whole world turned against him! No one expected a war and the AI switched to wartime production! This solved the spaceship problem for a while; cause spaceship isn't seen as a military improvement!

I quickly attacked all his cities surrounding my territory and then started bombarding his cities from fortified positions. I was forced to switch to artillery and infantry upon losing my Oil and steadily build my artillery stack. The AI numerously tried to attack my stack, using mostly MI and later some tanks. Fortunately he didn't have MA.

The position at this stage:

The French were quite helpful in the attack and even took some cities. The Russians also got involved, but they were weak comparing to myself.

I approached the last Persian city, together with a stack of French MA, including a MA army. I managed to take the city and immediately declared war on France. I couldn't resist bombarding the army to death. Quick spying revealed that the French were still under wartime production. The same the next turn. This was a relief, cause I might have had problems, taking Paris quickly. The spying also revealed that the French only had one resource of oil and rubber. The oil actually being in my starting territory. I took the oil city first and continued my MA production. I sent my own MA army plus an additional MA toward the rubber resource, which it reached in two turns. From here on I would only face new riflemen.

All through the attack I awaited the nukes to rain down on Delhi, but it never happened. The French quickly fell under the heavy bombardment and resistance quickly become non-existent. Before taking the last city on my continent, I sued for peace and got a city on the Babylonian/Zulu continent. At this stage the Babylonians were build a spaceship! I rushed an Airport and started airdropping MA. I send three transports with Radar Artillery for support and attacked the Babylonians. The Zulu's helped and they suffered the same fate as France. The Zulu were also building a spaceship, but never went into wartime production. Hats off to them. Unfortunately they had no counter against the numerous armies I've had landed at this stage.

They fell quickly. It's about this time the Russians started their spaceship! Don't the AI ever learn?

Luckily for them I won the one city culture victory before their spaceship could pose any threat!

Which difficulty level is it? It looks weird, industrial age in 1500's AD? I got to mordern age at like 100 BC. SO many Cities, don't YOu hate corruption MOre than pollution? Curruption is annoying!

I start this game last night, now I'm in 750 AD and I build in my capital The Oracle, Great Library and Sistine Capel. Next turn I will get Democracy. The other civs don't have Banking...

In this game I only build 2 spearmans, 6 warriors and get a war elephant from a city that flips to me. :groucho:
I signed ROP with all civs and they are all polite to me. It was funny when I see a spearman of the persians near my capital, and I didn't have any unit defending it... :D

As it said on the title of this thread "SDC - Game 2 (Monarch)". Therefore, the level of difficulty = Monarch.

Don't be too greedy! Sure, there are corruption everywhere. However, you are still better off with more cities. Here is an example:

1. 5 cities and each give 5 GPT.

OR

2. 10 cities and each give 4 GPT (note: you make less money per each city but you have more cities to make up for that).

Which one would you rather have? 5x5=25 or 10x4=40?

Btw, if you can make it to the modern age by 10BC, that's good for you. Some of us can't play as well as you do, so we stuck forever in the industrial age. What's so weird about that?
