SDI Defence

I build SDI devices in all my cities but they never work when the other civs send them my way. Yet when I try to nuke the SDI stops their nukes in their cities.

I decided to up my game to warlord as I find chieftain too easy now and man warlord I really had to change my strategy and never needed SDI before.

Your SDI Defense does not work? It always works for me and I have never heard about problems with it. I don't remember if my SDI was put to the test before I updated to version 2.42, but it does work now at least. Please say what version of the game you got.

It is also recommended to not start on Chieftain because you don't learn from your mistakes on the easiest level, the game is too forgiving. I started on Chieftain on Civilization because I didn't know better, but on later Civ versions I started on Warlord or harder settings.

I am pretty sure SDI's cover a three square radius around the city, so are you sure you built it in all your cities?

ya it was in all my cities and how do I tell what version I'm using as in one screen it was saying civ 2 gold mp patch 5.4.0f. I'm using the win 64 patch if that affects it any?

My SDI's work a lot of the time. You don't even need to have them in all of your cities for them to work. And have you ever thought that maybe the AI's are using spies to plant nuclear devices instead of actually nuking you.

i've been playing CIV ii for years... i would have to say i can not remember an AI spy nuking me. It's always a missile.

but, i've never had a SDI fail either. Not even 1 time.

I dont get it, my dad said that. but spies are the only things that nuke me

You have to have the building that deters spies as well then. Or take them out before they can reach your cities.

I usually have troops outside my cities so that i try to stop the spies and i also cut off much of the railroads the AI's build so spies and other units have a harder time sneaking in undetected

i like to keep some bad terrains on my enemy borders. or to make some so spie cannot run through easily. i use sdi i do not remember it failing before
