The transport ship unit in civ3 looks like a landing craft used in WW2 and not a real 'liberty ship'-like transport unit.
I think we should have 2 kinds of sea transports:liberty ships and landing crafts.
Liberty ship has very big capacity and can carry land units as well as landing crafts. But liberty ship can only load or unload units at a seaport, or unloading land unit into a landing craft.
Landing crafts are smaller, but faster. It can drop off units at a beachhead or at a seaport.
In civ3, we can unload units directly from a transport to any adjacent land tile. I think that is unrealistic. With the exception of marines, we shold only be able to land troops on a flat land, such as sand, grassland or plain. This will add strategic depth to the game and also make marines more useful.
