Machiavelli : Tone, BlackBetsy, Mad2rix, Baalzebul, WilliamOfOrange & eldar became full Machiavellians. killercane rose from 7th to 6th and a space oddity rose from 12th to 8th.
Pentathlon : zerksees, WilliamOfOrange, superslug, eldar & bluejay became full Pentathletes. Svar rose from 6th to 2nd, Chamnix rose from 5th to 4th, a space oddity rose from 8th to 6th, Denniz rose from 9th to 8th, Dianthus rose from 11th to 9th and EMan rose from 13th to 12th.
Octathlon : Denniz, Mad2rix & zerksees became full Octathletes. Chamnix rose from 6th to 4th.
Histographic : bluejay gained entrance to the Histographic table. LeSphinx rose from 22nd to 18th.

Well done everyone, esp the new QMs.

Dang, I'm annoyed on 3 fronts now!

Both my fastest finish games were beaten, and on only by three turns (osi, I have a 3-cow start unused at the Emperor domination game... so I will be going back for that one!)

The Byz spaceship wasn't even a serious attempt though, so I guess I'm not too worried.

But the real annoyance? Regent, tiny, milking. My game "became" a 60K win in 1969 due to assurances (from an early stage) by certain utility progs that I'd not win 'til after 2050, and that selling my libs and unis wasn't necessary until quite late on.... I was heading for a score of around 3800 too.

On a hint note, I think my {Large, Chieftain} spot is the easiest to break, since it was my only milking attempt, and I also didn't think that abusing the "minus money" was allowed at the time (and I was wrong..)

few years back, i was using the strategy your using now. i was on hof list playing aztecs on tiny maps (i was under other nick then). but then they said 'no more tiny maps for hof' and i thought they were right. now, playing anything but huge maps just isnt neither fun nor challenging for me.
so, like moonsinger said, i just have no desire to beat you.

Thanks. I tried to get the number 1 spot for my final qualifying game (tiny monarch spaceship), but came up short. I launched 1370, Svar did in 1340.

As the #7 QM atm, I think I had better start improving some of my scores as there are several who are one game away that will come in higher than me. Like I needed another excuse to play!

The question is do I improve my 20K small map warlord game, currently ranked #4 in a lot of categories? This game covers a lot of categories for me now - do I find an open slot to cover just one of them so I can make an improvement in just one try? Do I improve my #26 histograph? Decisions decisions.

Anyone else thinking like this?

Thanks for the company, Pentium. You might notice that quite a few of my games lack competition if you include the map size. I'm trying to reach QM status by stealth; just don't tell anyone else please

No secrets really. Just innacurate emulations of DaveMcW's great game

Actually for my last two submissions I've had great luck with SGL. In my Regent game I manged to have 3 stored up for ToE to pick up Miniturization and Superconductor, 1 for Internet the next turn, and another for SETI in my super science city which already had Copernicus and Newton's. In my Monarch game I actually got a SGL in 2550BC for the Pyramids, which should have catapulted that game to finsih before 1000 AD. However as the results show, my scientific friends were less than helpful with their free techs. Add in a number of miscues on my part, and the date slips to 1260.
