Does anyone know how to select a fortified unit from a city screen?
Presently I have to unfortify all the other units and move them off of the city until the unit I desire is visible. Then I have to move the other units back onto the city and refortify them.
I have tried clicking on the units (from the city screen) double clicking on them, and right clicking on them to no avail. In Civ II you got a menu where you could give them direct orders (including the wonderful "activate unit and close city screen" option). Does nothing like this exist in Civ III???

I am playing on an iMac, if that makes a difference...

Please help! It is frustrating and makes the game take longer then it does normally...

Thanks!

Bizarre T, right-clicking on the unit in the city screen ought to work - are you sure you tried this already? Right-click and then select "activate."

You might want to check out the newbie thread if you have more questions as you get to know the game.

satchel, unfortunately Bizzare T said he is playing on a mac, and IIRC mac's don't have a right or left mouse button, just one big one. But it has been a long time since I used a mac, so they may have changed this. Those of us who play on windows are used to right-clicking on many things in that game.
Bizzare T, there is also a forum under the main forum page for mac users, so they might be able to help you there.

you're correct, gskyes, and I wasn't thinking of that because in Bizarre's post, s/he stated that s/he had tried "right clicking." I think there is a control key-click combination (either shift or option) that works on a mac like a right-click on a PC, so perhaps that is what Bizarre meant. However, your advice was perhaps better than mine. The folks on the Mac forum will definitely be able to help you, Bizarre!

I do not consider it "unfortunately" to play on a Mac. ;) In fact, it is an extremely easy machine to play Civ III on.

Regarding "Macs don't have a right or left mouse button": Please note, that no computer has a mouse button. ;)
Correct is, that the Apple mice do not have several buttons. That is the reason for me to use since many years 3rd party mice. Currently I use Logitecs with 4 buttons and a wheel and all are perfectly usable with the fabuleous little gem USB Overdrive. :goodjob:

PS: Even with a 1 button mouse, using the ctrl-key does a right-click.
