Self Banning and other needed features (Sultan's 14 Points)

Flaming, trolling and spamming will NEVER be allowed

Aoa remember the dreadful spam thread and the peanut gallery...
2 large things in the end and full with nonsense...
Good it was destroyed...

autoban?
more than realistic I found it humoristic.
although the league of nations would be cool.like the UN of Civ3
with representants around the world.

I say #2 would be intressting, cuz it's like sultan say - they dissapear, and you don't know why. Are they on a vecation, has their computer broken down, or have they been baned - and for what.

Then you have to ask around, know what's happend to him, know why?

I see only 2 reasons not to give out this information, it's private(but then let the baned, press a button to make it public if he want's to) and the possibility that a large part of the community might dissagre with the ban(and start to ask quastions), and you don't want us to know becouse of that.

There's already a members' photo collage, being maintained by Matrix. ;) You can reach there in Matrix's sig, I believe.

There's also a thread in OT which shows members' photos.

 Why is this being 'revived'?

I'm surprised TF didn't jump on Sultans offer to pay $15.95 a month.

I cracked up when I read this post. Sultan is obviosly getting bored with himself.

I think the 'self-ban' thing is a great idea. Sometimes, posting is just too much of a temptation. I came very close to failing 2 essays because of CFC!

You need to improve your flattery skills, guys. Let me show you how we got two features added back in the primative UBB days, when I a a lowly but senior poster.

"O great and magnificent Thunderfall, puissant Grandmaster of CivFanatics. We have heard tale of upcoming further benefits, which you, in your unbounded munificence, have deigned to grant us, your humble followers. We have heard that you have most generously decided to grant to your unworthy flock, further user friendly attributes of this, your glorious oracle, the CivFantics Forums, That when we have entered one of lowly but sincere post offerings to your glory, that we shall be returned to the bottom of the thread, and that when we click upon the name on the topics page of the devotee who made the last reply, we shall be instantly and rapturously transported to the bottom of thread, for we, your servants, all know, that the bottom is our proper place, when in your august presence."

The ba-da-bing ba-da-boom, we got the features.

You could have the CFC HOF on your own web site if you really want it.

I like the idea of a 'these people are banned for this long' thread, or better yet just a page that can only be updated by Mods & Tf. My "bees wax" is irrelevant.

A community forum (such as Apolyton's) is also a good idea IMO.

The "self ban for 24 hours" is a good one, but not really necessary. Just tell your pet (dog, monkey, boss, spouse, parent etc.) to guard your computer for a day ;)

I know it would be difficult to manage, but I think a multi-lingual forum is a good idea too.

We have have had this discussion before, go dig up why you will NEVER see a list of banned posters, I have no desire to go through it again.

That league of nations would be great. I know that people post, not nations. But the result could be really cool :goodjob:
And the size of the posts... well... just imagine for yourself.
But I would LIKE VERY MUCH to see this!!! :D :) ;)

Auto-ban: Sultan, get a work... or learn to fish or something ;)

Multiple PM and Buddy lists would be very usefull!!! :goodjob:

Pic: pic as avatar is too small and I'd agree with you, but I think that TF is not going to do that. After all, in MAC's profile there as empty stats and they are sitll there, AND TF said they would stay because styles were made by some company and he is only using them.

More colours: agree. And MODs should have reserved colours.

CFC HOF: well, we already have WAR ACADEMY...

OT: NOOOOOO. Don't do that. I like to see threads like "Is your chair confortable?" followed by "Israel Vs Palestine" and by "Classical music of the 20th Century" ;)

Elitism: hmmmm... Dangerous idea, isn't it? Don't know what to think about it...
