Seperate the RPG and Demo Game

That's all symantics anyway. ;)

Unfortunately I don't think either method will help right now. Since the RPG is a demogame draw, it can only hurt demogame participation if they split. Combining them is right out of the question. The RPG is not a suitable guide for the demogame. Not at this difficulty level, anyway. That could be feasible in the next game since we're learning a lot about how to manage and run the RPG this term. (Basic mistakes like allowing Corporations before corporation is discovered, too much emphasis on gold and business, etc.)

As I see it, the RPG is not the cause of our woes. It is likely the RPG has been just barely pushing us through. As a member of both CFC demogames, I can easily see the deline of both.

Perhaps, when the game first started, it was seen as novelty and thus enjoyed more. When I was browsing Term 1 archives of the first game, I saw polls with 50+ votes. Then the game aged. Novelty was lost. People were getting bored.
Even the RPG reflects this. At it's creation, there was a burst of activity. Stock were trades, stores opened, items bought. Now, an exchange of stock occurs rarely, many businesses are basically defunct, new ones open rarely, and the main activities involve titles of nobility, land and houses.

The RPG is not to blame, but the cruel mistress of Time is. All we can do is advertise ourselves, and hope for a new burst of activity.

(CT: could you post an ad of some sort the the Civ3. Gen Discussion Forum?)

There's always Demogame News. ;) For Civ3Gen, I just use my sig...

But, that would be a bit off topic for that forum.

I think the demogame is starting to pick up a bit because the holiday season is almost over, its not the weekend, and school is almost back in for some people.

I still prefer the "good olde days" being the classic old timer I am. When the Demogame WAS the RPG, and we'd have fun just making stuff up. Ehecatl Atzin's trip to the Greek city of Troy was one of those, or the early posts to the "Great Victory civil war" between me and strider, we'd just have fun going back and forth making stuff up. Like stuff you see in the "Stories" forum Meetings among the Leaders, and plain olde war stories (never really saw any but there's the potential) but simply just making up stories within the events of the Demogame, THAT'S what the RPG used to be, and I found that more interesting and fun.

You've found to find the right words to describe how I feel about it. The RPG was more fun then too... It was more like dg1.
