Sesn03 - Bad Apple Goes To War

Kill him.

Not Bede, I mean The Bearded One.

Or at least get back what was gifted so The Apple doesn't get another trade opportunity. ;)

You want me to break the deal right away? Because I'm not yet sure I've held off the Sumerians yet.

Probably the worst thing he's done, not just in what he's gifted but in the timing.

The Egyptian Civil War

The Hittites have spread insurrection, influenced by propaganda from the dark one they call "Bede." I must reunite the kingdom!

Wow, Bede has gutted us! You are a bad apple! :nono:

At 100% science we are running -72gpt and have no gold in the tank. I think war with Hittites is rather forced here anyway.

Peace with Sumeria nets us 380g. They wouldn't do gpt.

We are still -12gpt. Hittites' turn. That puts us to +65gpt

Memphis is retaken. And starved.
Gem Warfare, Eboracum, Tire Iron Too, and The Winery II are all retaken. And starved.

The nice thing about some of Bede's gifts is that we have a ready-to-go assault force in Thebes.

We are in poor financial shape. Unit support is kicking in now that we have fewer towns. Happiness is a problem; I have sliders at 7.0.3 with lots of scientists for research (Steam in 16 currently) partly because I don't want to up the lux rate more than 30 right now.

IBT-
Celts and Netherlands sign MA against Scandinavia
Celts and Greece sign MA against Sumeria

8) 1080AD
Kill musket in Tyrantville, but an LB has moved in already.

Do or Dye captured
Kill a spear in Bubastis and capture that town.
We Smell Good reclaimed.
Iron Skillet reclaimed.

With those luxes reconnected I get to MM every town again :p

Slider now 7.1.2 and Steam is due in 9

9) 1090AD
Kill 2 LBs in Tyrantville and retake the town.
Kill a spear in Ankuwa and it is ours again.
Army kills a musket and a spear in Kadesh, the only true Hittite town.

With all our luxuries back in our control, lux is turned off. Slider is now 7.3.0, Steam in 6

IBT-
Greeks try to plant a spy
Vikings capture the Netherlands town of Leiden in our backyard.

10) 1100AD
This is recaptured.
Mansura is recaptured.

I am going to leave the last Hittite town for the next person. I'm sure we'll want to discuss who to attack next and what to do with the leader (another army?) before Bede gets his paws on this again.

I've moved most of the troops but thought to leave some unmoved as we are goign to want to position them according to what we decide.

Wow, seems like forever ago that I had this game. Not even sure what to suggest with the leader. Do we have the MA still? Not sure what city it was built in. If not, that would probably be the first suggestion. If we do, then I would probably suggest another army since I don't think we have the ability to build the CIA.

I'll try to reacquiant myself with it a bit later.

Yes, we did build the MA in Thebes a few turns back. We also have a leader just NE of Thebes that can be used for whatever (or can sit around so we don't need to worry about leaders any more).

Got it, but I think Bede will get at least 1 turn, as Mursilis will die in my set.
I would like to note that giving away multiple cities is kinda cheesy.

 heard and understood. I'll see what new dviltry I can come up with.

...That's okay. I never liked that whole FP idea anyway. Reduced rank corruption? Bah, makes pansies out of us governor types.

Yeah, we're better off without it. :undecide:

Well, that answers what question I was going to ask next: who do we fight? Greece now, it appears.

Ok, one war with Greece coming up ASAP. They are still fighting Sumeria IIRC, so we should be ok in that respect. Plus we can clear out those dang cities in our rear.

Turnlog: Declare on greece so we are at war with a neighbor. Get 3 workers and gold from Celts. Get an alliance against greece from Sumeria and furs for salt and gems.
Recapture Heliopolis 11 resistors. Dang Bede is evil. Minor deals to scrounge gold. Use our leader to rush the Fp in 17-1 as it is the best place for it.
IBT: We lose do or die and about a dozen workers.
Turn 1: Get do or die back and a bunch of gold. A lot of manuevering, kill some stuff.
IBT: We lose Asyut, and the Dutch ally against us. We lose virus ville. Not much I can do here.
Turn 2: Kill some stuff, try and get a sembelance of defense up. This is challenging.
IBT: Greece and Celts ally against us.
Turn 3: The Greeks happen to go through all our chokepoint. Nuts
Turn 4: Raze Groytn. To make things better Greece has flight.
Turn 5: The Greeks pillage our only peter as we are trading our other one away. Silly Romeo. Greek landings by the Core that I will really have to struggle with.
The Sumerians build the ToE and start Hoover. Our barricades are really slowing the greeks down, just to slog through.
Good Lord are we hemorraghing. We need peace soon. Our Army died to an infantry. Things are looking bad.
Liberate Memphis
The Greeks and Vikes ally against us. Yay. I recapture another El Armana. This Greek War was bad for us.
Peace with Greece. I pay 160 gold. The Dutch then pay us 80 gold for peace. We are still at war with the Vikes.
Greece Demands Tm and 26 gold, I think about it for a while, then give it to him.
We are in some dire straights here. We need to book it for Infantry and Arty, along with a railnet.
We got to keep up the slow expansion war. Our next goal should be to take Leidan, then turn on the Arabs.

Even if it's a core city, for the time it will take to get Heliopolis productive again, I'd just raze and replace. Giza could switch to a settler in 1.

Tough beat on Greece. We never were in a real good position and Bede forcing our hand to attack Greece has made it worse... Agree on rails and infantry, but the problem is we can't even get a brief respite from war to build up again.

We're only at war with the Vikes and Celts, and Brennus would be happy to give us peace. We can build up again, but it's going to be tough sledding from here on out.
