Setup.exe not working

Whenever i tryed to install beyond the sword i got an error message saying setup.exe is not working.

Trying to remedy the problem i uninstalled my vanilla version of Civ4, and when i tryed to reinstall i got the same message, now i cant install either!!

If anyone could help it would be much appreciated

I previously had problems playing civ4, which stopped after turning off user account control and installing a patch)

are you running the installer with administrator rights (righ click on it and choose run as administrator)?

should be, but when i first installed civIV it said i needed administrator rights so i searched online and it said to turn off user account control, thats what i did and it worked.

turning off the user account control gets rid of the prompt but does not give programs admin rights - you still need to do that by yourself as I described

sorry which ones the installer? i ty to right click install on the menu screen and nothing comes up

You need to look at the files on the CD/DVD and find the one called setup.exe. Right click on that and choose "Run as Administrator".
