Setup.inx cannot be installed for C3C

So, I uninstalled all of Civ in order to reinstall it (tech problems), and not it won't let me install C3C.

Civ 3 Vanilla is ok, but Conquests is a no-go. First, it won't auto-play the CD, so I have to automatically open the installer in the CD. Then, it says "Setup.inx cannot be installed" after the installer opens.

Any ideas?

Ideas? no sweat!, Im sure you''ll find a ton here. Start with the disc's condition though. See any circular scratches? How longs it been sice youve had it? Try a CD write program to copy the disc. Does it say corrupt or not read well?. Those are good signs you wore it out and can get it replaced free

Its not always the case, your disc could be fine. There are some copyright curses that can make it hard to recognize installsheild directions or detect if a program has been installed completely. (many cases with multi-disk installs).
You can look by digging in the registry for copyright software like "Securom". First do some searching on the site. You'll probably come across someone with similar story.

Try to empty your Windows username's Temp folder (located in %Temp%)

If that doesn't work then create installshield log file by running:

D:\Setup.exe /verbose"C:\logfile.log"
