SGOTM 12 - Xteam

Whaaat ??? You don't really love us after all ??? :(

Of course I love you all, it is almost Valentine's Day. :mischief:

Each team has a culture and by mixing them up randomly, I fear there would be a chaos of culture, thus a cultural loss.

Given enough time, that would probably become a cultural win as the blending of styles and the knowledge of strengths and weaknesses melds the team into a juggernaut... :)

Since we are all left with such warm and fuzzy feelings about our mutual effort in the last SGOTM, perhaps we should consider the following approach going forward:

We consider ourselves to be one big squad, that fields two teams in the SGOTM. We randomly assign members of our big, happy squad to the two teams each SGOTM.

(Hmm ... isn't that what the Russians et al used to do? :mischief:)

Too far outside the box?

Hmmm. I don't know. ;) There's something about the ring of the name "XTeam" and all the associations that go with it... X-men, Mac OSX, While we're talking about X's we could go to word associations and think of "T's" - Mr T, uh .... uh ... OK - you know what I mean - maybe I better leave all that alone. "Gypsy Kings" just doesn't have the same ring to it. If we did that we'd have to call the teams XTeam I and XTeam II. Or perhaps if we wanted some compromise, we could use "Gypsy X" or "Team Kings" :dubious: No - maybe not.

Yes, yes! That's it!!

:whew:

If our team has culture, does that make me a cultural person? - nobody accused me of that before...
Don't worry, we won't  it again. :D

I thought you were off skiing, collecting ski bunny piccies for us? :hmm:

I think that is called cultural exchange ... (you jingoist )

And here I thought I was being isolationist. :mischief:

Well at least dV (you do know your current settings do not allow you to receive private messages)is posting again...YEA!

Isolationist....jingoist...what is this?

I'd say we have a working relationship....we are even letting X-Team borrow C63(fully capable of making his own personal choices of course) for this round.;)

There is a part of me that would really like to play with CP this time just to see how he warmongers at that pace! Hopefully we can try to keep up!:D

Hello friends from X-Team and Gypsy Kings,
It would be tough for me to decide which team I should join for this SG. Long-term relationship with GK (in fact I am one of the founders of the team) on one side, warm welcome and kind invitation from X-Team while GK were inactive, on the other side.

But luckily (or unluckily), in the weeks since I signed up for X-Team, RL has made me realize I won't have the availability to contribute properly for either of the teams in the months ahead - I barely find the time to play the solo XOTM's, which are in fact my preferred source of Civ4 fun. :)

So I will amend my registration at the sign-up thread and sit this one out. I wish the best of luck for both teams (a tie for the gold, maybe?)!

Behave properly, I'll be (silently) lurking on both teams' threads!

Both teams will miss your skills. Hope RL gives you some time eventually to join one of us.

Hello everybody and thanks to Leif for an invitation!

I'm totally new with these SGOTMs so lots to learn here. Earlier I used to play BtS games around noble by bad saving/reloading technique but last spring I stumbled upon CFC, found out about those BOTMs and decided to try one. After that I've gone up to monarch/emperor and no more reloading for me. I still haven't played tons of games on monarch+ so I'm not that experienced but hopefully I have something to give to the team.

I told Leif before that I'm not sure about how much time I have available for actual playing but lurking and commenting on the forum shouldn't be a problem. My time for civving tends to vary but I guess the same goes for everybody.

Nice to be part of the team!

CP - don't let the French ever hear you saying such a thing. They would stone you to death for blasphemy. It's definitely French. :D And it's funnier in French too!

I stand corrected. Asterix is indeed all Gaul. Went back and looked at my son's collection (got them for him 20 years ago to help him learn to read -- worked great) and discovered the unlikely coincidence that led to my confusion: bought a couple dozen on the advice of a friend whose children learned to love them while he was on a sabatical at Oxford, and the covers are overprinted with 'Oxford Books' -- but I checked and found that is just a bookstore in Atlanta that they passed through. Many ways I could have recognized my error, but I was oblivious. Think I can avoid stoning, MP.
