I love this game realy. If firaxis would improve optimize the game preformance and interface, there would be no match to it. Ever. The game mechanics are already the best out there.
Best part of course is the player base. Highest % of well educated amateurs in the world. I dont think you can put this much effort as player into any other game in the world.

^^Do you play Civ V? I'm with you about Civ 4. It is indeed a classic. 
As far as Civ IV goes, I would like to see the Mac side get a better update. As you all know, the saves are not compatible and the interface hasn't been polished up as in the Windows version. It's a real bore to have to juggle between boot camp and Mac.
They seem to have done a better job of integrating the Mac with Civ V and I was able to download the Mac version without extra charge. That is cool.
The good thing is that the saves are compatible but it is not up to the level of Civ 4, for sure.

The idea that Civ 5 is not as good as Civ 4 has happened every time since Civ 2 was a favourite and Civ 3 was in disfavour. Even when Civ 4 first came out it wasn't as polished as now, of course. I think you get used to the game mechanics and when it changes it's hard to adjust at first.
Anyone have OFF TOPIC comments about Civ 5?

Is anyone planning on replaying the game with a different plan?

Off Topic about Civ V: I tried playing it, but then I switched back to Civ IV. Somehow it just didn't fit together. 1 UPT and tactical combat is is a nice idea, but armies are too small for real tactics and the AI not challenging enough. I tried playing OCC, but while in Civ IV you could make the city really powerful in terms of production (HE, MilAc) and research (Ox, Bureaucracy), it Civ V it just felt like any normal capital. Sulla did a great analysis of the inherent problems of Civ V here http://www.garath.net/Sullla/Civ5/whatwentwrong.html. I only played pre-patch, but I have very little interest trying again now.

Civ5 has been the biggest upset in games ever in my life. The game mechanics are so broken it is impossible to redeem anyomore.
Ranged units have way to much range. Longbows shooting 30km arrows are simply stupid.
I would advise a complete rework of the concept. Range beeing 1 tile range, simply an attack with no retaliation.
1 unit per tile should be 2-3 units per tile. And postioning should come into place. (flanking, and sourounding.)
The worst of course is the city tile yields, and improvments. something civ4 has mastered at the highest level.
dont even start on global happiness, and upkeep mechanics... or goverments. for phuk sake, why change it if it aint broken.
anyways, i hope they will improve it with add ons to a playable state. untill that i dont even have it installed anymore.

I guess the only plan is to wait and hope for the best. Designating someone else to finish the game might be tricky due to the problem of two players playing the game at the same time. Alan might not look too kindly upon that.

@ 2metra - We're all like expectant fathers waiting, pacing, worrying..... How is progress? Are we going to make the deadline?
Once the final save is up, we can look at the other team's threads, see how their games went and post to their thread. This will be very interesting to compare our strategy. Then we can see where we might have improved.

I hope 2metra will play the game until its won. It is a bit late to mave another player step in a play a turnset after 2metra's. I hope he is all well.
Yes. I think 2metra is aware and prepared to play through to a win. It is coming down to the wire and it would be very tough for someone else to pick up the save and get back into the game in such a short time.
I'm sure he's working hard at it. The time where 2metra is must be getting to be 1 o'clock in morning. For 2metra, I hope this hasn't gotten to be a burden.

2 news I have for ya - 1 good and 1 bad.
I'll start with the good
I finished the game, sorry it took me like forever and almost missed the deadline.
The bad is that it seems we are the team with the wooden spoon.
Its been nice game though, and for us becomes the achievement of forming our team. Thats a foundation, on which we must build from now on
Good game, all.
I am deadly tired (and a bit disappointed) right now, so I will read and write tomorrow.

Here is the link for the save, anyone can take a look. We had army to smash like 5 Joaos, but alas... The time and the distance were all against us. At the end I made domination with settling tundra cities with wipped settlers and galleons.
