SGOTM 13 - TNT thread

Congrats! And don't worry about the last save not showing. They do that on purpose so other teams won't know exactly when you finished. Get some sleep! ;)

Way to go 2metra! :goodjob: We were about to send out a search party! :D

Good news/bad news - I think we are all happy and relieved that we made the deadline. We knew we weren't going to be in the medals so winning the wooden spoon is just plain okay. :mischief: (I guess  ) It will give us a starting place for next time.

It is also befitting that the newest team wins the wooden spoon. It gives everyone who plays in this competition a kind of justice that newcomers do have a lot to learn. I mean how realistic would it be for a bunch of newbies to score a big win? Our time will come. :scan:

I'm now going to download the save and have a look. Then I'm going to check out the other threads and post some thoughts later.

Thanks Xcalibrator! :)

Hmmm... do this means that ALL the teams last saves are not shown on the progress page?

^^I wondered how you knwe we're last. Thought you must have checked the other teams. What was our domination date?

1660

17 turns it took me. Was under pressure of time (both SGOTM deadline and real-life time lately). Could have done it like 2-3-4 turns earlier.

We are not the recipients of the wooden spoon. ;)

2metra - it's been too damn cold here for any hot chicks, topless or not. :D

Depending how long sessions the other teams make, we can be outplayed few teams judging from the last saves.

I did not have the time for searching all the suspects for finishing after us, but the first one I investigated and we are above them...

....Domination victory in 1704 AD. ....

Pheewww... I am competitive when it comes to a game (oh, what I am talking... I meant "when it comes to THE GAME, as Civ4 is THE GAME for me :) ) and I would have taken it right to the hart if we were the last ones. Yes, I know there always someone have to be last after all, but I am just glad that it is not us :p

Congrats on finishing!

I am honored (I think) you chose us first to see if you had beaten us

Wooden spoon is for lowest score, not slowest date. So, ironically, it should go to OSS I believe, who had the 2nd fastest date.

^^ Thanks neilmeister. We targeted your last post date in hopes that we would at least catch one team. ;) I've no idea what the finish dates are for all the teams outside of looking at the last turn dates.

@2metra - After looking at the save I have to say you did a great job of finishing the game. Your 17 turns added to enKage and my set was right on the 40 turns suggested by dima after his turnset.

So, for a first time playing together I think our result is pretty good. :)

When each of us has a look at the other teams strategy, we should post whatever thoughts you might have. I think these post mortems are important so that we know where we might have improved our strategy.

After a first brief look around (there is a huge amount of reading if you read every post) I notice on the first page of many teams a summary or at least some hooks to important discussions and turnsets.

Some points I've noticed:

- settle on PH agrees with most teams and some did a lot of testing.
- our worker build and city builds were pretty much the same as the more successful teams.
- after the first 2 workboats, some teams built 2 wb for scouting, considered important to find the AI.
- the oracle build
- early war IF the copper was settled in time for an axe/cat rush.
- lighthouse before granary was mentioned after testing.

I have only read a bit of the discussions going on and will post further when I have a chance.

Feel free to tell us what you find.

You finished on time. :eek::eek:

For a moment I was worried your ninja had run off with your save. Quite a respectable date for a new team. You can only build on this result from here on in!

Well done!!! :goodjob:

:viking: so we did it ?
now i think wooden spoon would be a nice trophy, without it we're unnoticed xD

Thanks guys for my first time :D

OSS won silver and wooden spoon. In theory you could of won the gold award and still won the wooden spoon.

I'll add my crow to the chorus of well done everybody! :goodjob:

Yer, would certainly look forward to playing in this team again, nxt Succession game ... any news of it yet?!

I would like to think we would give Alan and other a week or so to recover. A suggestion page for next game might not be a bad idea in mean time.

As I read through some of the threads from the other teams, I realize it will take a long time to do a thorough study of each team's strategy, and our late finish makes it quite impractical to read and post in every thread.

Congratulations to Plastic Ducks on an unbelievable early conquest! :king: :trophy:
Congrats to One Short Straw for their conquest victory! :trophy2nd:
Same to Gypsy Kings! :trophy3rd:

One thing is clear, Conquest trumps Domination. :D
