SGOTM 21 - Fifth Element

We havent lost many hammers due to whipping. I got back to slavery last turn of golden age so GPP in spice were not wasted . I whipped 3 coasrs. The same in beaver. Corny bp and stag were 2 pop whips and in case of bp there were specialisrs.

I dont like wars against any protectives, especially large ones. If we get UN, China will be our contenders. Settling near Chine with Hindu city is pretty safe for AP win (gift city late to China. We can spread judaism to China instead Hindu or spread Hindu there when Kate and Toku are already converted and spread hindu in their empires on their own.

I think very wise move is to take 2 slots on chinese island - fish/marble and fish/deer/copper. This will guarantee us largest population even if we gift UN to anyone.

Toku has no Longbows and samurais, but has Xbows. If we really want war with Toku, we must spread hindu to a small city and hit Tokyo to prevent him from Xbows and Samurais (Samurai cannot be built with copper, right?)

Playing now till Oxford/Academy

Oxford + Academy + monastery + 2nd monastery in 1 turn.

Kate is Confu, but hindu missionary is on its way. If it spreads to Moscow, there are higher chances to convert Kate to Hindu.

Hinduism spreaded to Tokio. 2 trebs, 3 barracks.

On galleon 1 longbow, settler in production, can take 1 worker and settle near China (marble? stone?).

Chinese settled 1 more city.

We have discovered copper near Shine (why not gold :( ) so at least Mandirs are half priced.

Guilds taken as proposed, also got banking for CService from MM.

oh, forgot. Liz gots Islam, so when she converts, AP religious win will be soooo easy :]

If we're going for gift city to Isabella we obviously avoid economics until Dry Palace has a castle.

We still need PP etc up to Radio.

Shaka has OB with Willem, we don't have an army.

Who's up?

There was AP resolution by Liz to open borders with all members, we voted NO, but resolution passed. We need to settle more cities and spread hindu to those of ours which dont have a state religion yet.

I dont know if I should go further - it depends what we decide to do now. If a peacuful game -I can go on.

Note we dont have it guaranteed to put "declare war on imfidels" to be put on voting, so declaring on France can bring Isa to join the war. OTOH Louis is runing Theocracy,so hindu will not spread there for a long long time.

Also we have buddhism in 2 cities, so Isa can demand to change religion. Not to agree means no chances for DryPalace gifting.

There are few more things to consider now:
- where to settle: China has captured doublegem barb city and settled 1 more city - we dont know where, but at least 2 are free among: directly on stone, marble, copper.Settling directly on Stone will allow us to speed ups walls and castlesignificantly allowing far earlier DryPalace gifting + Sangkhore for failgold + Moai with some failgolds + incense for happiness (note we dont have any, there is mine on incense near dry palace)..
The sooner we gift the DPalace, trhye sooner we can declare onLouis or even Isa also (I dont seeany reason to keep her alive longer)
- techpath: we lost the visibility of MM, but I increased esp on MM, so soon it will be visible back.
Anyway, I think PP, partial Lib, SciMeth, Physics,Electriciy and Lib Radio is the best option
- do we convert China to judaism or Hinduism now.

Stone city sounds good to me. Might be able to spread Hinduism there and gift it to Louis at some point.

I'm not sure we needs trebs at the moment, maces will be more useful.

I'm also not sure about scientists in BP, maybe give crab to Beaver so it can grow faster, give fur to BP as it has more multipliers. Spicy could do with a forge after CH. Zoo's whales could do with a WB. Fishy could do with LH.

Judaism then Hinduism to China?

Libbing radio would be nice but maybe optimistic, obviously keep an eye on edu.

Trebs are more useful then maces : we need gunpowder units, not maces. IMO we will reach assembly line so soon then we can make a blitzkrieg after gifting DryPalace.

Good point with BP-Beaver.

We dont need more WB unless antarctic islands settled. I am not sure about LH in Fishy and especially Zoo as those cities will get +1 food (or we grow them?) I like grow Zoo 1 pop more and work max hammers, with no library there (and no need for one) we will not benefit much from working coastal tiles (except voting population).

Stone city if possible would be gifted rather to Isa if we dont have +3 when Palace will be ready to gift.

Libbing Radio is very very possible with the cash we have and techs other civs have. Trading Philo away may be the factor that force us only tolib Electricity instead.

--------

We have 1 warrior in Dutch territory to see Shaka. The second one was moved back to improve happy caps in capitol and lower supply costs.

Plan for 7 turns (settling stone city)

Techs as posted (PP first, then nearly Lib), Scimeth... 1 more turn of 0%
If Isa comes fotr Buddhism - agree (we have no choice :( )

BP: gives away crab, takes fur. Barracks, harbour, siege
Gemini: Obs, galleon x2
Shine: monastery, hindu temple, harbour, NotreDame or Sangkhor for failgold (if stone settled), otherwise barracks
Stag: finish settler, settler, Mandir
Zoo - missionary for blub, LHouse (with engineer from next turn instead of farm), Library
Rocky: +1 scientist +1 priest. Mandir, next constant wealth (7 specialist worked all the time = 0 growth so no need for more buildings)
Spicy: improve 2nd hill. Court, forge, theatre, odeon (culture pressure!)
Beaver: takes crab, forge whip into Hindu temple
Corny: finish temple, missionairies
Rusty: LBs (leave trebuch at 1 turn to complete)
Fishy: finish missionary, forest chop (spreading farm) into LH
Blub: lib forge, Temple
DryPalace: finish odeon, walls, no whipping there (we want castle wip)

--

do we want Buddhism monastery in Blub just in case?

I messed up everything :D (As I just woke up) I was unconsious (or half sleeping) when read pigswill and similar unconsious wriyting the reply :D

So to be clear

We are resident.
There was a resolution coming.
The choice was only between "OB with everyone" and "None"
I decided not to bring any resolutions to vote ;)

Any OB between Shaka and others are the effect of their own bilateral negotiations

I didn't really follow along all that closely this week. Sorry about that. I'm pretty much caught up now.

Given the short amount of time left, I think we need move into a little bit of an emergency mode where the player who is up has more autonomy. I believe pigswill is up next. I would be ok with the idea of ending the rotation on the following turn, which is shulec's. At that point, we may not have much choice but to finish in a hurry anyway.

I'm going to sum up the plan as I understand it. Let me know if anything sounds off.

Research:
2 turns into Lib, then Sci Meth and Physics. Research or Lib Electricity/Radio. Trade for Gunpowder, Replaceable Parts, Steam Power, Assem Line, RR
Self tech or trade Combustion, self tech Industrialism.

Military:
Build trebs and muskets(?) and Airships to go to war with Mao
Generate a GG
Attack Isa after completing Summer Palace task

Liz:
Build Christo on first turn of Golden Age

Isa:
Finish Odeon, build Walls, Castle, etc. in Dry Palace and gift

Cathy:
Move Airships and muskets/rifles/Inf to Moscow
Build tanks and transport to Moscow w/ GG

Winning:
Spread Hindu to remaining civs and get AP votes
- Need WvO/Liz to go to Free Religion
- Settle gift cities for Louis, maybe Mao
- Settle empty land with food resources to increase votes

So it means you follow this right. Except rather kill Louis with religious war, keep Mao.

Win
AP:
- needs Liz go finally Islam or Free religion
- needs Louis dead, Kate Willem and Mao voting for us (convert Kate to hindu)
Diplo
- convert Mao rather late so hehas lower support fromothers hindu civs
- settle what we can on Nao island andmaybe antarctic fish
OR
gift UN city to someone unliked

In both win conditions: Use common war bonus against someone (Isa? - Isa is the only leader that cannot declare at please in this game))

Should I go till settling stone?
