SGOTM 22 - Fifth Element

Yeah you're probably right about that, on a normal Pangea Monarch it's probably feasible with good luck.

As to tech path given we need Monarchy how about considering AH -> Mysticism -> Masonry -> Poly -> Mono -> Monarchy? Good chance of founding Judaism that way which gives some benefit. We could build the Great Wall before starting to expand, slows expansion but is much safer.

Probably need to pick up IW before Monarchy, but I think it's a path worth considering. The one bad thing is that it's the path that would have made the most sense if we had stayed landlocked. We have GLH available to us, but it's benefit is limited with the small number of cities.

It's tempting to go for early conquest, but I have to believe it won't be that easy. Hopefully, we will have enough map info to make a more informed decision by the time we get IW. That probably applies to GWall too. If we find out by T6 that there's not a ton of land to fogbust, we can skip it.

I dont think we need religion path. Religion will spread from Sal anyway. OTOH our builds are LH, Pottery, Libr, (early wonder?) market, forge, cheap courtmore wonders. No need for temples and so on

I tried growing first, and I got T42 but not T41.

The warrior was mostly in the build order to grow to size 2. I'm still surprised that it doesn't pay off to build the WB as fast as possible.

What's the purpose of switching from warrior to WB for 1 turn?

If we go WB first, then I prefer sailing first. The tech is ready when workboat is ready --> overflow multiplied by 2 into lighthouse. Then start worker. Will be ready when AH is researched. Again multiplie overflow to lighthouse

Switching warrior to WB was also managing overflows.

I think the safiest is just playing 5 turns with no research and maybe till that time we will know more about possible worker steal

Demography t3 is also needed ==> number of creatives.

What's the reason of switching back to grasshill on t12?

I settled 41 beacause I had road ready

As i suppose there are three paths we are considering now: Scenario: quicek WB, no grow before worker

Scenario: quicker WB, grow before worker

Scenario: grow while WB, worker

Will test them again to the point worker ready

We need the religion path because the Wine will be our primary source of commerce, therefore we need to get to Monarchy.

The wine is a bonus, but hereditary rule is the real goal. Religion spread gets our happy cap to 6, but Monarchy gets us to 8 plus any additional garrison units.

The fact that there's so much wine around also means it's going to be our main resource trade.

I'm still debating mucking around with command line nonsense to counter Microsoft's sabotage but view this with some trepidation so remain civ free.

Have we considered Gwall before second city?

One significant consideration is whether Sal is seperated from us, we should find out soon.

I dont think GWall is a good idea with only 1 hill available to mine.

That's the way I was leaning - raging barbarians can be a real pain, zbg is right though it depends on how easy it will be to fogbust.

I cannot do any better than growing and a city t41 ;/ Doeasnt matter if sailing or AH first

Still I hope BSP gave a starting worker to Sal

Well, how about I play to T6? I'll start with Sailing, WB, and working the grass for 2F. If Sal has a worker, we might be able to spot him by then.

If all agree with WB first / maxgrow to size 2, then better start with AH. sailing first makes a difference only in case of WB with emphaszed production.

Also disccovering horsies in BFC can make some things easier = settling 2nd city earlier.

OK, convinced about religion, but I dont see a place for it before BW

Anyone wanys some more tries before we go few turns?

You can refuse to choice a tech to research until T5 without losing any beakers

How does that work? I get a popup on T2 that won't go away until I choose a tech.

You choose a tech on popup, then next turn click on research bar to cancel it.

Anyway, I dont think this trick is needed here. We should go AH first then sailing

Still waiting for the team (enKage excepted) to approve/deny a turnset up to T6. Will play in 5 hours if no objections come up before then.
