I almost can't believe it. The gamble pays off big time!
:goodjob:

In other news, we met Saladin on T1! Pretty crazy! :crazyeye:

Also, just for enKage, here's the T1 demographics:

P.S. The land tile count is 983. Seems quite high. I'm playing a standard-size pangaea map in another game and it's only about 750 tiles.

So it's time for quite a lot of testing. Especially that for 5 turns we can work only 2yield tile into worker.

Many possibilities, worker first, workboat first? Will the city be faster if going WB and sailing first for 30h lighthouse?? Sooo many possibilities ;/

Note food. Some (or all AIs) have tiles improved. Impossible to have 7 food (max without improved tiles is 6). Also 4 hammers is interesting. It is working forest and settled on plainhills or.... Pollux placed again Inca on marble plain hill.
Because less food is 3, I rather guess there is simply 2Hcity tile + forest worked. At least not plainhill marble, but plainmarble is possible

There is 1 charismatic leader OR non charismatic settled on luxury. I guess for Hannibal

Probably only 1 leader started on floody area. Life exp is hard, but there should be 1-2 expansionist leaders

Here's an updated test game with Rome founded.

Unfortunately, we're not going to be able to keep using this test game for very long because the starting position is too far north. Anybody want to remake the map?

In the meantime, let the testing begin!

I think we probably have to start Worker. Especially, if we don't want to unlock BW. No whipping means 20-some turns for a WB.

@BSPollux

The rules said that warriors don't count as garrison after getting BW or IW. However, that assumes that Copper/Iron is in our BFC and that we hook it up. So, are warriors still valid until we hook up one of those metals? Are we compelled to hook it up if it's there?

The presence of Saladin makes my army count wrong. He has wheel + archery = 10k, if no techs removed.

Normally thee AI should start with 2 archers, so 16k together. I still have no idea how to make 15k or 17k

I havent checked the test, but before testing emember we start with additional hunting (not sure if you added).

Still we have one tile unfogged. Only riverside corn will probably force us to take agri first.

Not sure about the worker. Normally the AI should start with worker on Monarch and we have Sal nearby + 4 warriors. Sal borders will pop up on t5. Supposing Sal will get religion for sure (I more often see him going for hindu fiirst, we have limited time for worker stealing from Sal. Would Pollux be so cruel to delete AI's worker?

-------

BTW we are blocked from Sal by mountain range. If there is a pass, it is only through the tile scout is standing on (he moved 1 north. It is also possible BSP placed scout outside Arabian area limited by peaks

I did add hunting so that I could research AH first. There are definitely some issues with worker first. After the pig pasture and one mined hill, there's nothing he can do. Farming is kind of pointless. We have more than enough food for our happy cap of 5.

I went AH -> Sailing -> Wheel -> Pottery -> BW.

I would probably change Wheel and Sailing around. At least then he can build roads. BW would come after the 2nd city is founded.

With Saladin so close, we should definitely look for the worker steal. That would change the build to WB, but the techs would be mostly the same.

BTW, does your soldier count work if the AIs have hunting? I don't think Sal is supposed to have a scout, but he does. If we got it for free, then the AIs probably did too.

Sorry, I messed up. AI dont have workers on Monarch

No, I count only techs they originally have. Scout can be placed by mapmaker without giving a tech. Again BSP makes evrything to spiol the pleasure of guesing by army :D

Researching the techs makes the units useless for the requirements, it doesn't matter if you have the metal or now. Just knowing that you could have it makes your population want it :)

I have DL the test game. I will try to make a few runs to see WB vs worker but I have 3 job interviews in the next 2 days to prep for so it may be sat or sun before I have anything significant
