SGOTM 9 - Xteam

Yep - here's what I originally proposed, with Leif and Gator's additions and a closing paragraph:

After millenia of backwards living ...
Oh dear, memory comes back: We tried to make India build the spaceship. Duuh! :cringe: :shake:

After millenia of backwards living, in the year [what year?] an Indian [what unit?] wandered into the deserted streets of Oslo.
1695AD - Dumbo is very close to Oslo. It may take Oslo next turn. I gift the Kelts up to what they've never expected to know - at least in this game.
I make a last visit to Oslo . and press return ...

IBT - Spain and India signed a trade embargo.

Dumbo takes Oslo!

1700AD - India is in the modern age immediately! Some WW appears b/c of the huge loss. I solve the problem with 10% lux and some MM.

Comes from this post.

The former Scandinavian capital completed this project in [what date?]
Turn 395 - 1860AD
India completes Apollo

And that comes from this post.

Did some further reading. We completed all the Space Ship techs by:

Turn 9: 1445 AD
taking care of some pollution….

IBT
we have learned how to amplify light by stimulated emission of radiation!
time to figure out how to spy on our neighbors

Turn 10: 1450 AD
no signs of additional units coming out of Jonkoping
but the path to knowledge is open before them!

So it took from 1450 AD until 1695 AD to give India the techs they needed! That is 49 turns!!

Then from India taking Oslo until Apollo is completed is another 66 turns. So, there is 115 turns!!!

That's just awful!

So who wants to post it?
Looks like, in the end, the RNG popped up its ugly head once again!!

Before we post it, it was fun to read all the wild things we tried. The one that eventually worked we could add to the narrative.

I know that in some summaries, the trail of breadcrumbs has been used to explain how to follow Ainwood hints on initial city placement. We had to use a trail of workers to intice Ghandi to find Oslo!

Just an idea and we don't need to do it, but I found it sort of funny, in an ironic sort of way!! :mischief:

I don't know what you mean. Could you please explain it a little bit further? :thanx:

Amazing what the human mind can remember when other things seem more important to remember! :crazyeye:

It comes from COTM02 and here is one of the posts I'm refering too.

Had to dig hard to find it again!!

The RNG does not favor us most of the time.

Does anyone know when Smurtz learned their last SS tech?

In 1420 to 1425 AD turn they learned Satellites and started Espionage, sound familiar?

In 1425 AD, they gifted the Ottomans to tech parity and the next turn, India took their FP city!!

We were 5 turns behind them in getting our last Space Ship tech and 54 turns behind them in giving away our TGLibrary!

Thanks for pointing me to that spoiler!

That means, X-TEAM wasn't that bad with producing culture and science. :goodjob:

I think our biggest mistake was keeping India to only one city. I haven't read Team Wacken's yet but they eliminated evry one except Otto and India. They stopped at the completion of Apollo so I they did not deal with making sure India had resources. That was the main focus of our late game efforts.

I think Team Klarius has it if I have read right. I have only looked at the end of the threads as they're all so long. I am trying to find the time to check some of them closer.

EDIT:
Looking back, I think we gave them cities that were too big, too well developed and with too many of our irate citizens in them. The Indians couldn't cope with all the unhappiness!

We can always post a second spoiler if someone has the time and creativity to write it. (And now, for the inside story of what REALLY happened when the XTeam tried to send Ghandi to space...) :p

From what I've seen thus far, our experience was not unique! :crazyeye:

Anybody out there? ;)

If no one posts anything in the next 24 hours, I will post Willow's creative spoiler in the spoiler thread? :)

Indeed!

Keep this up and I will run out of space on you avatar :p
