Been making models of building/wonders recently (I'll be posting them later), but the problem is that they appear too dark, how do I change that and does *.nif accept lamps?

Do Civ4 models have lamps? anyone? Thanks in advance.;)

I had the same problem at first too. But looking through the firaxis documentation, from this THREAD , I found the way the materials are supposed to be set up.

After changing the below settings, my models showed up a lot brighter in-game.

Things of note: Ambient, diffuse, and specular are all [255, 255, 255] and emittance is [0, 0, 0]. This is what you want almost all the time, certain excetptions occure on objects that are billboarded ( why light a billboard object, so usually the emittance will be set to [255, 255, 255 ] on those). Make sure vertex color check box is unchecked with Source Mode set to Ignore and Light Mode set to E_A_D. Alpha Testing should be on, with NoSorter checked as well.

Hi guys, thank you for the quick responses and sorry for my late one.

I have posted a picture of my problem below, it's not the texture that is dark, it's the shading... everytime I rotate the cube or zoom away it turns dark on the edges. I can't figure out how to get rid of the shading.

Your help is deeply appreciated. Please if you can help me get rid of the shadows, meaning disable shading. :)

Oh, I see. My stuff looks like that in the nif viewer too. As well as in the civilopedia entry. But the units usually look much brighter when actually in the main game.

Have you tried testing the building in Civ4 yet?

You need to change the ambient color of the first defaultlight to white.

Once again thanx for the quick replies!

Dual, is there anyway they appear similar to those in the game??

White Rabbit, I tried that just now, it helped make the texture lighter, but the shadows were not affected.

Any more ideas???

There is nothing I change when it happens to me. The parts that looked dark in the nif viewer just brighten up in-game on their own. I don't know why.
