[BNW] Shared Immortal Game Series Thread

T 141 Dom Victory

Hi everyone :) Finally found some time to play a game or two.

Really fun map with one of the best civ for early rushing :) Babylon gives such a great edge tech wise its hard to resist an early war.

Went Bowman training with Attila and captured. Then first army wnet Paris - Assyria - Rome - London while 2nd Xbow army got Sending and Alex.

After some thought I could be a better idea do go Paris straight away while training and defending from Attila with other troops.

Outstanding! When did you capture Attilla’s court? No upgrades needed past bowmen?

starter war around t10 with upgraded warior and stated to reinforce 1st army with bowman. Caprured around t 50 after some pillage and xp farm.

Whole idea was to cripple Attila before he produces mass of Horse Archers.

Cbs on immortal are good to t100-110 and xbows with pike will do the rest. Maybe with a little aid of knights

What social policies did you adopt?

Shared Immortal Game Series #2 - Shoshone
Hi all, Here is the second game in the SIGS series. This time we play as Pocatello of the Shoshone. This is a weird map, which makes it interesting. Its a Small Continents map with low sea level, which I heard can produce some weird results and it sure did. Hopefully you laugh as hard as I did when you find the nearby Natural Wonder (I settled it anyway!). A fantastic civilization that is pretty broad in its ability; Go in any direction for the victory with this one.

Perfect timing, I was just looking if u got a 2nd one up!

(as a small commentary; I dont know how others feel, but personally I prefer not knowing there's a natural wonder nearby since itll impact my starting moves quite a lot  )

I'll try to not spoil too much. I did not mean it as a hint of what to do though so it does not imply one should go in search of the NW before settling. Just wondering, is that what you were thinking or what impact does it have on your starting moves?

Played 100 turns on game #2.
Spoiler :

I stole 2 workers very early from ethiopia, that was nice. I got like 1 or 2 more later camping the cotton tile. I built like 4 workers myself because I got early friends with Milan and didn't want to steal from them.
My settlers got derailed a lot from barb camps spawning new barbs, so it took quite a bit of help of my 3 pathfinders to eventually get all cities settled.
Happiness is difficult, because the other civs don't have luxes to trade. I did trade a lot of iron and my luxes for their gold. I will probably dump this gold in CS for happiness.
I got 2 filler policies, 1 from oracle, i took patronage with consulates to hopefully get much more CS friends. I have been exploring with 2 triremes but sadly didn't find that many CS yet.
I'm going for workshops first before civil service, because of the dire happiness situation.
I'm thinking to just go spam frigates now...

I also went the spam Frigates route. I went with a Liberty game, settled a bunch of coastal cities because luxury resources were quite plentiful. I got a bit meme'd in the end since it looks like I'll have to find a different solution to finish the game, since Frigates might not have been the correct choice. I am not quite finished yet, but I'll also post a quick update with some screenshots since I finally figured out how to take screenshots again (I dno why it stopped working on civ5)

Spoiler Shows the map :

T100

At T168 I was ready for war, Navigation about to be popped out, plenty of gold and iron to hop straight into Frigates.

T191 Frigates prevailed

And then I got meme'd, because the map is fkd and the ocean is omegafake and Milan ruined any option for a canal. I'm gna have to make a land army, which I haven't done yet. I do have access to 1 city that can make some boats, but realistically I'll need more than just a few boats to take the final capitals.

I ended up getting a bit punished because I wanted to take Harar waaaaay sooner, but I decided against it because they had 4 Pikemen and I figured it's probably not worth the effort to try and break through that with only a few archers to get a pretty mediocre city. But it turns out I need it because that ocean can't be accessed from the other side.

I thought this map type was great, especially in combination with the Shoshone. There was more sense in discovering the world and more surprises than in a normal continents game.

Spoiler Turns 0-183 :
I chased all around the world for huts and religious civs, trying to claim that last available religion and eventually succeeded although I had built only one shrine. This wasn't very important, but made it a bit more exciting.

In the early stages, I prioritized 1 culture hut towards Tradition and then population huts. There was a flying start as Moson Kahni rose to size 5 in just 17 turns and it was ready for settler spamming. But then there were several problems. I accidentally caused the capital to starve from 5 to 4. What a beginner's mistake! I also lost 2 early food ships to barbs. (I wish there was a proximity warning for cargo ships just like there is for workers.) I chose Milan as a worker factory. It started out well and I liked the fact that they weren't under anybody's protection. And the pathfinder's extra strength should help it withstand attacks from archers and CBs. But soon their borders grew unexpectedly and I ended up without a good place for the pathfinder to lurk. I snatched a worker or two from Ethiopia too, but was woefully short on workers during the first 100 turns or so. I am reluctant to build any on higher difficulties because they are expensive and there is so much else to build.

I was unsure first of which VC to pursue but ended up going for science, even though the lack of mountains was a big disadvantage for it. Just like qontroL and Rhodro I built a lot of coastal cities for growth. Happiness issues were counteracted through a long-standing alliance with Tyre.

The Persian city Pasargadae by the 4 sugar fields was a key factor. It was vulnerable because it was very far from the Persian heartland, so I directed my interest to it rather than Ethiopia, having little military. I was also attacked by Inca and took the opportunity to cripple them. My realm is getting pretty large and so I'd like to see how it goes, trying to keep up a decent tech pace with so many cities. If it turns out to be too slow, I will most certainly abandon the game. I have missed a lot of wonders so that's also a big minus.
