So, last night i finished my first succesful game of FFH.
I had previously lost one (to the orc with the axe when playing Tessa), left one unfinished (as Faeryl), and finally finished one (as the Amurites - the one with V___ the even- can't remember her name).
Monarch, archipelego, low sea levels, snakey continents, hilly terrain, aggressive AI, no building requirement for AI building of units, wildlife, living world
I was very aggressive and ended up with a tower victory (turn 340- i have no idea if thats a good speed or not). and 8 vassals (of 13 civs) and i had a huge sprawling empire spanning three major continents.
So here's the love:
1) Falamar using his world spell: I lost my dwarven RoK hero and about 20-30% of my other troops (this was an archipelego snaky continents low level water map so i had LOTS of coastal cities) including lots of workers and lots of improvements. I lost about 10% of my GNP and 15% of my power. At first i didn't realize what was happening but then i laughed because i totally deserved it; the war on Falamar was underhanded and one-sided. RIP Dwarven hero guy- we will miss you.
2) Stupid destroy undead spell. I was fighting Varn latter on and had three liches (no reagents in this game so i had to use the trick outlined in this forum where you use rangers->druids->liches to get powerful spell casters) Anyway, i was summoning wraiths to protect my stack when it was out in the open and i guess that presented a mighty tempting target for Varn's casters because next thing i know all my wraiths are dead, and two of my liches are seriously wounded and i lost the other one. Unfortunately, it proved too difficult to replace him and i ended up with only two liches after that.
Anyway, so that was the two best moments of the game. Sure, it pissed me off at the time, but i like that they came back from being walked on to actually hurt my army in a big way. great game Kael and the gang.
PS: Is it common to not have any reagents on the map at all? If it wasn't for my civilization's hero i would have had no high-level casters at all (got to love the meteor-casting druids and liches with two ranks of mobility!!!)
