If you thought I was a bad mix with religion, then check out leader of the Moonies, Rev. Sun Myung Moon!

This reports tells of a rally he had last December, and some of the stupid and dangerous things he said.
Also disturbingly, a number of US political representatives attended this demagouge's ranting gig.

See for yourself...

This man is the kind of person that makes me wary of religion.

What about you?

Should this type of big-time hate-mongering be allowed, even if it hided behind the banner of faith?

The benchmark for Christians to see if what someone is saying is from God or not is whether is lines up with the Bible.
Clearly there are a lot of things that just dont cut the mustard biblically with what this guy is saying.
One of the things with the USA is that EVERYONE has the freedom to speech, regardless of whether it is right or wrong.

On paper at least.

Try discussing evolution in some areas, and see how long you last.

And this thread is not about christianity alone, it's any faith. :)

FWIW I'm not interested in discussing evolution Vs creationism.

and as far as other faiths go I cant answer for them as I dont know what they believe.
I can and only give answers from my point of view.

That's OK, I have no desire to start it either,
I only used it as an example that free speech is not always the case in practice.

I appreciate your words, Eric, so do not be offended.

Yes. Letting this man speak is perhaps the greatest defence against him.

Remember that freedom of speech is not an absolute freedom. For example you cannot shout "fire" in a crowded theatre if there is no fire.

I agree with Curt, what applies to radical Islam pplies to nutjobs everywhere else.

But who have the right to stop a president which clearly infringe constitution's law in USA?

Only the Supreme Court, but they are rightists also.

So if i understand corectly, it mean the extrem religious right winger control USA and are above the law, pretty scary IMO.

How is it possible to kick them out, citizen election??? I am pretty sure that USA citizen doesnt approve that in a large majority.

It si ironic that mr. Moon is so against prostitution since he controls a prostitution ring in Washington. He uses that organisation for political purposes luring politicians into his trap and then blackmails them. I find people who use sex as a political weapon disgusting. In fact I think he is a danger to the world.

Are the SAS or Delta busy just now?

Perhaps a well placed rifle round would end this man's rant...

(by shooting his microphone, of course! ;) )

This guy is really twisted.

Coming from Moon that made perfect sense, because he already believes all religions will come together -- under him. "The separation between religion and politics," he has observed on many occasions, "is what Satan likes most." His gospel: Jesus failed because he never attained worldly power. Moon will succeed, he says, by purifying our sex-corrupted culture, and that includes cleaning up gays ("dung-eating dogs," as he calls them) and American women ("a line of prostitutes"). Jews had better repent, too. (Moon claims that the Holocaust was payback for the crucifixion of Christ: "Through the principle of indemnity, Hitler killed 6 million Jews.") His solution is a world theocracy that will enforce proper sexual habits in order to bring about heaven on earth.

Repent, or Moonie will moonie you !
How could Bush agree with this guy, when he says American women are prostitutes? A new insight into Bush's limited insights?

What sort of proper sexual habits? According to Moon, in order to restore blood purity, very specific practices are prescribed. Sex before marriage is out of the question, and when sexual consummation does happen, it must adhere to very specific instructions. First, a photograph of Moon must be nearby, so that everything occurs under the reverend's watchful eye. After two nights of woman-on-top sex, the couple reverse positions, whereupon the man, according to Moon, restores dominion over Eve, via the proper missionary position. Then, according to the instructions attributed to the U.C.'s American Blessed Family Department, "after the act of love, both spouses should wipe their sexual areas with the Holy Handkerchief" --referring to the church-supplied washcloth -- which must "be kept individually labeled and should never be laundered or mixed up."

This is hilarious. Really, this guy should have his own sit-com. Holy handkerchief, the omnipresent picture of Moonie. Kinda reminds me of Benny Hill :D

I don't know how much, if any, the Moonies have gotten from the government as yet. But the whole idea of the "Office of Faith Based Initiatives" is to "get the government out" of a lot of people-oriented programs such as drug treatment, support for the homeless, child daycare and such by funneling the money to religious and community organizations. What a crock.
I suspect the main reason the politicians showed up for Moon's soiree was to get a good mention in his media outlet The Washington Times. Rev. Moon owns this conservative mouthpiece which, frighteningly, has become tolerated and even accepted as legitimate by the mainstream press.
