The 4th X
There is a very short new article up at Gamespy. It is in an interview format that is light on detail but has some interesting opinions from someone who has seen the demo.

Well, I wouldn't say I got a "casual" vibe out of it, to be honest. If anything, the whole one-combat-unit-per-hexagon (yes, they've changed from square tiles to hexagonal ones) and the tactical decisions that will necessitate them seem to cut the other way.
...that suggests that the vibe for Civ V is gonna swing more back to the hardcore gamer. So, I'd say that both in terms of look and of game design decisions, this might be the hardest core Civ yet.
I like this because it reflects my own opinion:My guess is that this game is going to be targeted toward the hardcore PC crowd, and that 2K will release some kind of Civ Revolution II for the more watered-down crowd...
You know, multiplayer is one of those things with Civ that I think is a bigger hype draw than it is an actual used feature. ... I just don't see multiplayer as a big draw. And a real giveaway on that is how much the 2K rep was emphasizing how the improved A.I. "plays the way your friends do -- with a recognizable gameplay style." If multiplayer were really the primary gameplay type, developer Firaxis Games wouldn't spend all that much time on A.I. development.
