Darkness,
i noticed in your regent HOF game that you had 3 tiles between cities, and now you are talking of 2 tiles. did you change to this in your current game? which spacing works best for you?

@Moonsinger: You're welcome! :D I never though I could teach you something about this game...

@Takeo: Cool, someone checked out my game! :D You're correct in your observation Takeo. I did make a change in city placement style. I did this during recent GOTM's, in particular GOTM21 and 22, and IMHO that was a large factor in my improved play (especially in GOTM22).
I am now very much convinced that my new (2-tile spacing) style is better, because you win/lose the game in the early stages, and then you have only small cities, so why space them wide and lose out on all those tiles that could be worked. And by spacing my cities closer I have more cities with good/reasonable production, due to a smaller effect of corruption due to distance. Although the corruptio due to city rank is bigger, I still think this is better.

BTW I played another 40 turns in my warlord game last night and I can now say I already have the highest warlord score ever (maybe there was a higher score when huge maps were larger, but I don't know)! :D It's now 1750 AD in my game, so there are still 200 turns to play and I already have slightly over 11K in points. Though my increase per turn is down to somewhere between 40-45 per turn, I'm not really sure, I think I can add another couple of thousand points to this.
All my cities are just on wealth right now, with 3 or 4 exceptions, who are building the interesting wonders. I've got all city improvements I want in my cities, so it's just milking all the way to the finish line now... :)

Congratulations! As we sometimes say in America: Got milk?

Sounds like a great game, Darkness! looking forward to see it:)
I've never been able to apply ICS to my games, I like my size-12 cities too much for that.:)

It's not ICS actually. ICS is when you have roughly up to 6 working tiles for each city, my cities have more, so most of them (maybe 20 or so are not) are size 16-22.

Played until 1850 AD last night. Though my increase in score is now down to 33 per turn, my score is now 12910 points... [dance]

This will be the last update before I finish the game. I hope I can finish it this week, in time for the next update...

It's now 1980 AD in my game, and my increase in score per turn has dropped to a meager 23 points, giving me a total score of 15114 points. :D

i might be able to finish my attempt this week also. was hoping to get it submitted before you, so i could have the top position for just 1 week.;) excellent on your game Darkness:goodjob: you will eclipse the current no.1 by about 50% and congrats on getting one of the top scores in the viking gotm:goodjob:

Thanks Takeo! I thought I'd go out with a bang in the GOTM. It's nice to go out near the top! :D

Nah, I'm way too addicted to this game to stop playing civ!
I just stopped playing the GOTM...

I think I'll eventually get back into GOTM, now that it looks more interesting (than say a year ago). I've just never been that good with deadlines that aren't work related. Glad you're not calling quits on the HOF. You obviously have some talent!:goodjob:

Actually, I disagree with that. It's becoming more and more like a mod, and I prefer a straight-up game of civ. But if you're looking for a change of pace game, it's great...

OK, I just submitted my warlord game.
I finished it last night by conquering the last AI city in 2049 AD, resulting in a conquest win. I also completed the last spaceship part in 2050 AD and I got a huge cultural expansion in 2050 AD but the game said a conquest win was what it was...

I had something strange happening though. It was my understanding that if you build the Internet wonder you get a free research lab that same turn in all your cities. With 2 cpt this is ideal for a last turn teritory expansion if you complete the Internet in 2046 AD.
However, this is NOT true! When I checked all my cities in 2049 AD (just before conquering the last Celts city, I saw that about 2 dozen cities of mine had only 6 culture, so the had gotten their research lab a turn AFTER I had completed the Internet. Very strange. Of course I just rushed a temple in these cities to get my planned cultural expansions anyway.

@Aeson: The Zipfile I sent you contains my 4000BC, 10AD and 2050AD save. If you prefer to have the 2049AD save, just let me know, and I'll send it to you.

This game took 108 hours, 46 minutes and 15 second and my score is:

:band:

16513 points! :D

Congratulations, Darkness! I wish I was going to have mine finished on time for the update, but alas, I probably won't.

Good job, Darkness!!:goodjob:
i submitted mine last night also. i had to end it about 65 turns early cause babylon was about to finish their spaceship. so in 1985 i called in a vote and got diplo victory with 11055 pts.

Maybe I will. I was actually thinking on seeing how far my expansionist approach would get me on monarch level, but maybe I'll try chieftain next...

Everyone's finishing their games before the update cutoff but me... ...I feel so embarassed...

Congratulations, everyone.:goodjob:
