Should We Allow Wonder Victories Into the Hall?

As Hall of Fame administrator, final rulings are my decisions and responsibility. However, I am open to discussion on the question at hand.

Wonder Victory is currently a disallowed setting. Should it be made optional?

Edit: This would not entail adding a Wonder Victory section to the HoF. It would mean that it could be an optional setting. Wonder-on doesn't preclude the other vic conditions, and if an actual Wonder-win happened, it would be slated under Score and/or Histograph.

Given my obvious bias I will not give my opinion on this, but I would like to say that I didn't notice that the game played any different than usual. Obviously I didn't build all the Wonders. Imagine the look on my face when I had and instantly had gotten: "game over!"

IMHO, there are situations where players inadvertently make errors playing a game but they are still admitted to the HOF because "no harm was done". (E.g. Reloading after an inadvertent Domination Victory.)

If players put in the time they should be rewarded with an entry in the HOF, subject to the 'slug's nod of approval if the error gave no advantage and has no precedent. (viz. Inadvertently set "Wonder Victory" switch "On".)

However, I do NOT think that "Wonder Victory" should be an optional setting since there is no current List for that kind of victory in the HOF.

If you allow "Wonder Victory" ON, then some people would not unreasonably expect to be Listed if they win with that condition!

My feeling is that for a victory other than by wonders, the state of the "wonder victory flag" should not matter.

I agree with Bartleby, if the victory was NOT by wonders, then having that victory on could only be a disadvantage (it only add an additional way to lose to the AI), so I see no problem allowing those games. Its just a mistake like winning by domination sometimes.

Now if the victory was by wonder thats a different thing, I think these shouldnt be listed unless a whole new category is created for them...

following this line of reasoning, space's game can be admitted to the HoF without difficulty, IMHO.

I'll update the official rules sometime in the near future: Wonder Victory will be allowed as an optional setting, but not as a victory condition.
