Based on Civ3 Conquests. With games based on combat victory chances, optimum city placement and optimum worker instructions. Definitely worth a play with.

I was going to do a whole post on this, but thanks for posting. I was kind of curious what CFC would have to say about some of the puzzles. I know that we love to debate the minutia of what exactly is optimal here, and I was curious if anyone disagreed with any of the answers for the worker move and city placement puzzles. There's some subjectivity, especially with city placement, and I'd be happy to start some long, 2001 style forum arguments about what is best .

Sorry if I jumped the gun in my enthusiasm. I was surprised at agreeing with pretty much all of the city placement suggestions as I'm a typical non-optimal, minimum overlap city placement kind of fellow who wouldn't dream of victory at Deity or above. Even on city and worker answers I didn't select I could at least appreciate the rationale. It's clear I know little about worker moves in jungle!

The main scenarios where i struggle with city placement is how bold to be with making a very distant early city to secure a bottleneck / key defensive position / iron, but that level of context is probably not suitable for the app (and much of this may be idiocy on my part from the perspective of players who love to scuffle).

Looks really cool. I would like to try that out, but I don't have a cell-phone...
In any case: looks like Towel should get in contact with WildWeazel. (He leads a group of people trying to "re-program" Civ3 and then fixing the bugs and enhancing the modding capabilities.) What did Towel use for the graphics display? Looks very close to the original game!

We used a screenshot! Towel actually coded the grid system such that the diamond shaped tiles line up with the touch pad. IIRC he also made it so the app scans the picture and can tell what worker jobs are available on what tile.

Yeah there's so much subjectivity. Personally I prefer using units to secure bottlenecks.

Those jungle puzzles towards the end are some of my favorites. I tried to think long and hard about situations where chopping jungle might be the best move (very unlikely but plausible), or situations where you might be baited into chopping jungle when there are better options.
