I'm not angry, by the fall I will probably be bored with CIV4 anyways.

Still, I'm awfully surprised at how quick they were to make another one. It only took ensemble studios 10ish years to make a sequel.

I bought it when it was released but due to a dying laptop hadn't played it for a couple of years until I got my new PC last September.

I did get the addons for the first time though and have played quite a bit, thought it'll be nice to have something fresh with Civ V.

How quick to make a sequel!?!?

cIV came out in 2005!! You are just very slow to get on board the civilization train. :)

Civilization IV was released between October 25 and November 4, 2005 in North America, Europe, and Australia.

Why did it take you so long to buy cIV?

I hadn't heard about the series for such a long time. I had heard about it, and saw at best buy. JUst decided, what the heck. One of the best purchases I've ever made, but when I see it on steam for a third of the price, I wince.

I gotta say, I bought civ4 when it first came out, and I'm still playing it more regularly than any other game (and I play a lot of games). I don't think I've gotten better entertainment value for my money, ever. The modding community really makes this the longest-lived game I've ever played - the only one to come near was WoW, which I played for three years.

I been burned out on civ 4 for a few months, been mainly playing Sins of a solar empire: diplomacy and Gal Civ 2 - Ultimate edition, and keeping tabs on the dev forums for Elemental:War of magic. But I gotta say those screen shots for civ 5 make me really look forward to the game. I love the idea of no more stacks of doom. That always annoyed me a bit from a logistics point of view.

I would still buy Civ4 today if I didn't have it. You can pick it up with all the expansions real cheap. Civ5 is still months away so there is plenty of time to enjoy Civ4.

I first played Civ with Civ 3. Somebody I worked with knew I played Age of Empires and said I might enjoy Civ 2. So I went looking for it and it turned out that was like the day Civ 3 hit the stores. Bought each expansion as soon as it hit the stores.

I preordered Civ IV, and bought Warlords and BtS as soon as they hit Wal Mart. Since Civ 3 came out I have bought each Civilization and Expansion one at a time as they came out, never a collection pack, never a lag, and I will buy Civ V because I have not been disappointed yet, even with Play the World. It had a lot of good stuff, a tease that made Conquests so much better than expected. Civ V would have to be pretty bad to keep me from buying an expansion, since it would probably hold out a promise of redemption.

On the other hand, my Civ3 was stolen in a burglary while I was out of town (it was in an entire Cd binder that was taken) and I have not replaced it. All I had was my hidden boxed Civ IV Special Edition and the Warlords disk that was with me in my laptop's drive at the time. That's when I went out and bought BtS which was new. I've been tempted to replace my III, but haven't.

I recently re-bought Civ 4 because I could find my original CD. Turns out I had lent it to a friend of mine. He then couldn't find my copy, so he bought me a new one. Then months later he found my copy and handed it to me as well. I now own three copies of Civ4, and two copies of warlords.
