Military Academy or Cav Army?

One more option - palace rush.

military academy for sure, unlimited armies are what we need
Actualy, we can only have an army per 4 Cities. So in a sense, we cannot technicly have an unlimited army unless our existing army falls to an enemy Civ.

true, but we can a;ways have a lot of armies, far more than anyone can imagine.......

We don't particularly need lots of armies now our conquest days are over, but the Military Academy will give us the option if we need one. It will also add a tiny bit of culture in the meantime. If we want to build the Pentagon we could always then build another Army if we don't get a leader.

military academy, armies armies armies, they are THE MOST effective force out there, able to take A LOT more hits than regular forces.

We dont need to have them for an offense, the AI will go to war over our refusal of even the most pathetic demand. i don't know if armies act as a deterrance but they sure as heck will crush any attacking forces that the AI sends at us.

Definatly the Military Academy.

Armies don't deter the AI. The AI will even demand and go to war even if they have 1 city with a 3/3 archer in it when you have 15 modern armor armies.

oh. oh well, at least they make a nice defensive buffer, if we max out on armies there's not a hope in helll that the AI will be able to effectivley take land from us.

I believe CivAssist will run on virtual pc on the mac, albeit somewhat slowly....

Top shield producer is currently Halls of Mandos with the Iron Works, then Husborne Crawley. I haven't worked our what the maximum output is though, too late tonight, I was just about to shut down. I would guess though as Halls of Mandos has little in the way of extra food, while Husborne Crawley has it coming out of it's ears that Husborne Crawley would be able to support a much higher population and hence use more of the high production tiles around it giving a higher ultimate output. It needs more than a guess though.

Don't forget that combined with a factory and some kind of power plant, Iron Works will double (or more -- almost quadruple??) the shield output.

Having the Mil Acad. will mean we can get an army if we need one, and the rule of thumb is rush the most expensive thing you can...

I'm actually kinda surprised not to see any further discussion of rushing a palace. I argued against it back when leaders were scarce, but now they're not. Of course the cultural implications are still there so in the end I still might not support a palace move... :mischief:

I suggest the Palace move to the ICS. This will reduce corruption a lot. Sure, our main territory will suffer from corruption but it has the Forbidden Palace to keep it in line.

It easy to actually get the Military Academy at HoM with the Iron Works. So no reason to use a military leader for that.

I vote heavily for the Palace near PDX or Paradiss. This option is a better choice than any of the other options right now.

does anyone find it stupid that william walace is a english military leader, i could understand if he was a british one, but the civilisation is England. Next hitler will be a Russian Military leader

I guess it falls under the "flag" of Britain.

I beleive that the military academy would be a sound desicion, the ability to make grander armies improves our ability to defend ourselves better from a backstabbing,(which the AI loves to do). So building an academy not only boosts our offensive might, it ups our defensive play....
