Library and Academy placement adjacent to resources

I'm spending twice as much time on reading info than on playing the game, so apologies for asking this n00b question without doing proper research :)

  • Both the Library and the Academy get a +1 Science bonus from adjacent resources
  • I have one spot with 2 adjacent resources
  • I have one spot with 3 adjacent resources
Both buildings get the same bonus, so it shouldn't matter whether I put the Library in one spot and the Academy in the other, or vice versa, right?
Or are there other considerations I'm missing, like overbuilding in the next age or anything else?

You can put them in the same spot, if you want to. But you also want the production buildings on the same tiles, because they have the same adjacencies.

I would put the library in the +3 spot, because then you enjoy that adjacency for most of the antiquity age. I would then pair it with the barracks, for +3 production. The academy comes very late, so it can go in the +2 spot.

The +3 spot can also be made into a +4 or even +5 if you build wonders next to it.

Thanks! And yes, I plan to put at least one wonder next to it right now :)

One other thing I am unsure about:
I thought I read somewhere that either science and production buildings, or science and production quarters, get a bonus from any other adjacent quarter?

It is hinted at here:

The +3 spot is better, because you only need to jump one district in between to get there. It might not even be worth building out to the +2 spot highlighted there, and just use the spot NE of the +3 spot for the Academy when it gets there.

There is a legacy bonus you can take that causes Academies to retain their adjacency bonus in the Exploration Age. It's not something you'll have every game, but it's a reason to care slightly more about adjacency bonus for Academy locations.

You know, I never take the golden age buildings. They're considered current to the new age, so you can't overbuild them and they just waste space. If there's a golden age academy on one of my good science/production tiles, then I can't build the new science/production building there. I guess you could argue that I don't need to, but the new one is better. So now I need to find a third science/production tile to build it on, but then I have an extra urban tile in the next age. Blah.

Another consideration: some resources disappear or get replaced with a different one in the next age - this matters if you want to be efficient with your district spots and keep some rural improvements. In your screenshot, Wool is a resource that does not carry over - lucky if it gets replaced, but bummer if it just disappears. So you’ll want to prioritize the spot that is currently Wool + Wine + Marble

No regular(nonunique non Palace) buildings get adjacency from quarters. Instead some of them give a +1 to all quarters in that settlement.
