I just downloaded a 3d model, but it is archived in SIT format - never heard of this. Does anyone know here a nice free tool to unpack files in SIT format?

Rofl :D

I wished there was a free tool which could handle all archive formats....first I had one for zips, then for rar (which can also handle zip, but not sit).

Murks (German for something that isn't good :)).

Hmmm, found something, but the download does not work :(

Edit. Ooooooops now it works, after 3 minutes of waiting (I'm on DSL). Maybe they had server trouble.

It's a Machintosh compression file (like zip). Try StuffIt (do a search for it). You can use that in Windows for compressed Mac files.

http://www.stuffit.com/win/index.html <-- Look for it about 2/3 down the page. (Stuffit Expander)

.sit is Stuffit format. Stuffit is the usual Macintosh compression, like .zip is the usual PC compression.
