Right, their public office demands a certain level of professionalism. In that context, a person is not entitled to any opinion, but in this case, their viewpoint and mine/ours cross paths rather than swords. I think gender-neutral titles are probably the best way to go, moving forward.Well, they probably don't think of her as a woman, and of course they have a right to their opinion. It's when they lack the spine to get over their personal feelings and show a bit of professionalism that they make themselves look like idiots.
In other news, Wikipedia says that the Virginia House of Delegates is the successor to the House of Burgesses, the first chamber of elected representatives in the Colonies, founded in Jamestown in 1619. So, yeah, almost 400 years.
