Skyward Collapse by Arcen games (of Tidalis/AI war/Shattered Haven/A valley without wind fame) is a new game I just got which I think might be interesting to people here.

It's really cheap: £3.59 on steam, or you can even get it for £2.52 or something on greenman gaming with their 20% off voucher (see their blog if you can't find the code).

The game is grid/tile-based and turn-based. It's presented in "isometric" projection.

Basically, as far as I can make out (I've only played 20 turns of the tutorial), you get multiple civilizations or sides and you build up their cities turn by turn. They produce troops but you don't control them directly. You can mess with the landscape too and also drop resources.

The aim is to make sure the civs don't wipe each other out, and also deal with barbarians and so on that appear in later turns.

I'm still feeling my way but the game seems to have a medium amount of long-term potential, which for a game this criminally cheap at release, is impressive.

I haven't played Reus but wondered if it was broadly similar to that, despite the different presentation.

Oh well, I'll be interested in what other people think of the game and how you get on with it! (I'm not, hopefully needless to say, affiliated with any online stores or Arcen).

Hi graspee, I didn't realise you were on this forum too! :wavey:

The game sounds really good to me - strategy, indie, simulation as the genre is a good sign!

It sounds like this game gives you a bit more control over the civs and focuses on the interactions between the civs, where Reus is more limited to controlling the environment and more on the overall development of all the settlements.

Hard to say though... Would be good to hear your thoughts on it when you've had more time in it.
