Why could you trade only some workers in diplomatic discusions?

If you can stumble across the lone worker in the capitol can buy it, you can hurt them. This is something than people use when they can. It is not that the AI wants to sell the worker, but it foolishly sends the worker back and forth and it ends up in the capitol.

It can also happen that barbs chase the worker in, but at DG or better barbs will get waxed. Just check frequently in the very early part of the game. Of course you need 120 gold in C3C.

Maybe I'm understanding the question incorrectly, but it sounds like you're asking why you can't trade all of your workers, Gamemaster77. The answer to that question is this: the only workers available for trade (either buying or selling) are the ones located in the capital at the time the diplo screen is opened. So if I have 40 workers and only 2 are sitting in my capital at that time, only 2 will show up as available for sale.

Yeah, I like to do that early in the game. The AI tends to send settlers out unguarded early on if you're not using roaming barbs and having a warrior or two trolling their boundaries lets me pick off these settlers.

Then by the time the AI gets an archer or two out and about, I can sue for peace. The AI likes to hide their workers in their cities during war, so the chances of their capital worker sitting on their capital is pretty good and the AI will gladly trade it for peace.

I think it needs to be mentioned that the capitals of your and their empire need to share the same landmass/continent. Else worker trading isn't possible at all.

The capitals do not need to share the same landmass. It is sufficient that either the player or the AI has at least one city on the same landmass as the other's capital.

thanks alot. I am playing a multiplayer game with someone else and they captured my worker and couldn't fing a way to get them back. He was willing to trade it.
