Slow Video

I have just bought a new computer with XP home Edition on it and Civ works but it is really slow.

Is this normal, please advise.

It used to happen to me when I ran it in Windows, but that was Windows 3.11. I would change to DOS.
Then I got Civ2.

Try different settings. When I press 121 at the startup (speaker sound) it works fine, while when I press 111 (no sound) or 141 (sound blaster) the game runs slow for me too. I have no explanation for this, but perhaps the same will occur for you.

Yes, to me too. I sometimes use Civjuke and it sounds way better with adlib,roland,etc... but in game it is very slow.
