Hi All,
I'm playing vanilla (non-Warlords) Civ IV and the performance is great until later in the game when I start to discover the whole world. As soon as about 1/2 or more of the world is uncovered and I view it in the world view, graphics performance is about 2-5 FPS. This is really only a problem in the world view... as soon as the rendering switches back to normal view my performance is back around 30+ FPS.
Any ideas on how to make it smoother, or is this just the way it is until I get faster hardware?
My specs:
Pentium 4 3.0 GHz w/ 800 MHz FSB
Intel 875 Motherboard
1.0 GB DDR-400 Memory running in dual-channel mode (800 FSB)
nVidia 7800GS 256MB AGP 8x Video Card (fastest AGP card available, SM 3.0)
I'm running it @ 1440x900 resolution using 4x AA & 4x AF.
What would help the most? New CPU (Core 2 Duo)? More memory? Faster video card?
Thanks. Input from those with faster hardware would be appreciated.
