Just an FYI to anyone who might be having a similar problem.
I have an AMD 1gig processor with 640 meg RAM and plenty of hard drive space. Ever since I started playing CIV III, I'd been having a problem. Every time I played the game for an hour or so, the music started skipping, infrequently at first, then more frequently. Then, the game started slowing WAY down during the music, eventually getting to the point where I would have to end the game and reboot my computer. It would be fine for another hour or so, then it would start again with the hickups.
Finally, I exited my antivirus software (McAfee). Haven't had a single problem since then no matter how long I play each day!
