One thing I feel that this game would really benefit from is the option to slow down science, specifically, make techs longer to develop. Right now it feels like you blow through the game without really having a chance to enjoy the specific eras. If you slow the game down, you just have the same issue where the science goes fast compared to building units and cities up.

I'd like to see an option or a mod where you can make all techs require 50%, 75%, 100% more research needed. Nothing else would be touched.

Yeah i asked for an advanced option like tech stagnation from Alpha Centauri be incorporated into Civ 6 before release but from the looks of things advanced options got cut almost completely.

I don't think such an option is needed; rather, science should just be slowed as a balance tuning in a patch.

Why not have a mod to do it tho? There's no gaurentee that they will do it and modding beakers needed is so easy I can do it without a mod lol.

yeah it's obvious that landing on mars in 1900 isn't supposed to be the standard

I think they scale the speed to the rate at which the AI will typically reach the top of the tree without crazy bonuses. Without simply taking options away from the Human that lets us use our cognitive abilities to plan out district adjacency bonuses way better than the AI can't because we can place our city centers specifically to set up district placement we might not get around to for another 100 turns while I don't think this AI is capable of that level of long term planning if its army movement abilities are anything to go by. Unfortunately I think the issue is Humans are just too good at the system because we can share the metagame online with each other to balance it around our abilities, it has to be simple enough the ai can do it.
