I really liked playing carthage in Civ 5. I loved the bonuses for being surrounded by oceans. Especially having free harbors. So I oftenly used the archipelago map type in Civ 5.

However, in Civ 6 in it's default condition you are not able to create a archipelago or small island type of map.
In Civ 5 the AI also had trouble navigating a ocean or archipelago type of map.
I needed a AI mod to make it work properly.
So I suggest both things here.

Make sure you can play on a archipelago map type.
Make sure the AI knows how to make proper use of a ocean map with fewer land tiles.

I also want to quikly use my opportunity to mention Norways "Knarr" Civ bonus that allows units to embark after the Shipbuilding technology.

It's stupid in that order if you ask me. The technology Cartography is only a few turns away and allows the same for any Civ. So how is this a bonus?
It would be better to allow this from the very start (no tech required)
They also mention Viking longship as a Civ bonus, meaning they relate themselves with the Vikings.
Vikings crossed waters in 4000BC and probably even earlier.
So it's also historically accurate to enable Norway to do this from turn 1.
