Hey guys

I've just been wondering, do trade routes spread through other people's territory if you have open borders.

Eg if you are connected to for eg amurites by roads alone, but he is connected to, say, the Hippus, and you have open borders with both, do you share trade routes with the Hippus?

Thanks

Al

Yup, you do in fact get trade linking through friendly civs. If you were at war with the amurites, however, you'd lose trade ability with the hippus. Not that the route still must follow your own abilities. That is, if the amurites are connected to the hippus via ocean, because Dain had Astronomy, you would also need astronomy.

Cool thanks... thats good...

So what if (regarding your scenario with the Hippus over the ocean) I have astronomy but Dain doesn't? Am I still connected to the Hippus?

When it comes to trade routes, I'm pretty sure that all connections that aren't in enemy territory (meaning all neutral and allied ones) are treated as yours, disregarding who controls that area and whether or not they can utilize that trade route themselves.
