small yellow circle in upper left corner

Ok, so when I entered the Industrial Age (I believe that this is when it started), in the little status window in the lower right corner there appeared a small yellow circle in the upper left corner. It resembles a sun. Is this a global warming indicator? I do not have the manual (don't ask), so I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this circle is.

You are correct. The brighter the 'sun' gets the sooner your terrain will start changing due to global warming.

Is there a certain scale? Like yellow to orange to red? BTW, thanks a lot.

It gets whiter as I recall

In a game I am playing now nuclear war just broke out and there is massive global warming. After using about 50 icbms, my sun is dark red. So id say the more red it is the more global warming definitely.
